I'm sorry, but whenever I hear the words Christmas tree + decorations now, all I can think about is this moment:

Personally, I don't really care about Christmas (I'm not putting up a tree) but it must be nice to have something to look forward too this time of the year. And decorating is fun!

We are actually going shopping tomorrow for some new decorations. We use the same ones every year (his late mother's collection) but they're getting kinda old and tatty so we thought we'd treat ourselves.

The one thing we do get every year is a real tree. When I was a kid my parents had the same fake tree every year, but since we moved in together we have bought a real one and I love it! It always smells so amazing and it's something for the cat to climb 😛

Here's how to make those cheap nasty plastic christmas trees smell nice, put a burning incense stick under it. Sorry about that Nix, I'll admit to hacking away at a bush from next door and using the branch, or if I'm feeling really cheap I use the tree outside and cover it with sparkly stuff.

I have a little table-top Christmas tree that I sometimes put out and sometimes don't. (My apartment is a mess and it seems silly to put decorations in it.)

But I help to put up and decorate my parents' full-size tree. We (by which I mean "I") have traditions about where on the tree certain ornaments go, and I have to be there to make sure it's right.

Kind of surprised at how many houses that usually have Christmas lights outside don't this year. Maybe because it's been such an awful year a lot of people are too depressed for Christmas. A lot of people have only white or yellow lights, too. My thinking is that yellow lights are for the other 364 days of the year. Yellow and white Christmas lights all by themselves are like drinking unflavored Kool Aid, IMO.

My parents' tree is artificial. My mother got a pine-scented Yankee Candle to burn, but it kind of smells too strong and too much like room freshener rather than an actual pine tree. I think it's because there's no sap smell. You've gotta have the sap!

I heard a news story of Lights displays being stolen, I went to look for a link and found about 80 different stories... 🙄

So I guess putting up lights in this country is "asking" for it to be stolen. Hence less lights on houses.

But! If you have a cute enough kid who can turn on the tears on national TV - you have a chance to get them back.

One of the streets here have an annual lights switch on, they have a few stalls and fireworks and raise money for charity doing it. Another area of town has a few houses that compete with each other for who has the most lights. I haven't seen any of it yet this year though.

I'm thinking of getting a proper Christmas tree, I'm contemplating putting Spike on the top, or maybe putting a spike on the top and then putting Angel on the top, and seeing if it makes Angel eyes get bigger?

Not the best Christmas tree for a Bangel huh?

We always put the tree up on the 23rd so here it is 🙂
Because I was deprived as a child (my grandparents thought glitter was a ridiculous American thing, so we always had a garland of little swedish flags which I thought was laaame) I like an opulent, color-coded tree. Only red and gold need apply. And lots of glitter!

The lights on our tree this year are great, because we can have them on a multi setting, so one minute they're all calm and glowy and the next it's like you're at a rave circa 1999 😀
