Traditionally the big movies come out at Christmas and during the summer.

I'm definitely going to see this one when it opens Christmas day...

Marley and Me

cause I need a laugh, and I like puppies.

What about you? Do any of the upcomers on the list towards the bottom of page at the link below catch your eye?

Movies coming for Christmas

Yes!

One of these movies is 'The Reader', and I've been waiting for this for like a year now. I soooo wanna see that. It's based on a German novel we had to read for school.
Also, 'Valkyrie' sounds interesting. Might watch that one if I have enough money.

EDIT: I just checked some sites, and apparently in the Netherlands 'The Reader' is gonna premier 1/26/09. So damn that 🙁

This festive period looks rather bleak to me.

In April this year I was looking forward to Christmas on a Movie basis - we had Star Trek and Harry Potter BUT now both have been moved back to easter/summer I can't say I am overly excited.

I did however just watch Ghost Town - not Christmas but it got a few chuckles out of me.

Ohh and I have no wish to see Four Christmases and I would rather have a poisoned spike impaling my right thigh while a syphilitic male prostitute aroused me in the middle of Trafalgar square while my grand mother watched in abject horror than watch Australia.

Ya I wasnt to happy about those push backs either. But since I do absolutley nothing on Christmas I will most likely try to go to the movies (if they are open around here) espically to see Marley and Me.

I just watched the trailer for Marley and Me...not my kind of movie at all...and I am a big softie!!!

Is it wrong that I want something either fantastical (LotR, HP, Narnia) or something comical yet Christmasy - I love films like Scrooged, Miracle on 34th Street or even Home Alone.

Pah, I'm still gonna go to the cinema this holiday but nothing is really making me go 'OH I HAVE TO SEE THAT'.

BUT maybe thats the price to pay for the fantastic year of film we've had.

Iron Man
Hulk
Narnia
Tropic Thunder
Hellboy

To name a few.

No its perfectly normal. Having something epic come out on CHristmas is like having another presenet to open. A comedy just makes for laughs which makes christmas day even more enjoyable.

I think I will try to see Marley & Me, The Spirit, and Curios Case of BB all on christmas day. Have myself a little movie marathon.

After the year we've had politically and economically some truly festive cheer is required yet I am seeing hardly anything in the schedules to fill that. Pah, I'd even settle for a Tim Allen/Disney piece!!!
I'd like to see:

Nobel Son - Eliza Dushku!
Repo! The Genetic Opera - Does that Dec 5 date means it's going into wide release?!
Doubt

And I'd like to see Four Christmases too.

Holiday movies aren't looking so good this season. I guess we already used up our "good movie" quota this summer (Iron Man, Tropic Thunder, Pineapple Express, Wall-E, The Dark Knight...). The only ones I'm looking forward to are Milk (Dec. 5th), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Dec. 25th), and maybe Repo!, and I'm not even all that excited for them.

I don't know if there are gonna be a lot of good movies coming out early next year, but I do know that Watchmen is gonna be all kinds of epic (it's supposed to come out March 6th, but it might be pushed back because of that stupid thing with FOX.)

MY NAME IS BRUCE!!! I didn't even know about this movie till I read that just now. I am so freakin excited! I can only pray they release it here!

Bruce Campbell is awesome!

I'm not up on what's coming out this X-Mas season, but it doesn't look like there's gonna be very much there.

I just wish they'd hurry up already and film "The Hobbit". Now that would be ideal holiday viewing for me.....or any other fantasy films for that matter. I got too used to watching LOTR films every December.

I want to see Valkyrie, even tho the trailers looked awful. I'm a sucker for historical stuff, so....I also want to see Doubt (Hoffman and Meryl Streep rock!) and Seven Pounds. I probably won't see all three, but those are my picks, if I go it'll be one of them.
