Christmas Preparations

So the Nix household has Gandalf firmly situated at the top of the Christmas tree, and Gandalf is smiling! Though it is possible those two features are not related.

Given that Great Britain will fit into the state of Western Australia 14 times, Great Britain must be this incredibly small country. Also, given that the distance from Lands End to John o'Groats is similar to the disrtance from here through Northam, Coolgardie to Kalgoorlie I'm guessing that Nix must know nightshade and hence if they hired a truck and went to visit their friends to see who has the best Christmas tree. Given that they are such nice people they are bound to be able to convince said friends to donate their Christmas tree to a worthy cause for the Christmas celebrations.
I'm guessing it should be kept quiet the tree is for next years celebrations and that in the meantime the trees would be held in the Nix and nightshade households.

Lego are retiring these soon so I might have got them to add to my Lego Christmas display

How are you coping this year? Are you getting into the Christmas spirit? What are you doing to prepare? Want to share something seasonal?

We just put up our Christmas tree today, but it's not been decorated. It's been a crazy, busy year, but I'm excited for Christmas. I'm ready to get all holly-jolly and forget about the state of the world for a day. 🎄

Me too! I've got a bourbon cake waiting on me that's been sitting for the last 4 months. I can't wait. Everyone else in the family knocked out the spare cake, and I didn't get any. Come Christmas Eve I'm going to let loose on that thing.

Panicking because my cards haven't been written yet, and Gaudete is this Sunday!

I'm just glad to hear someone still sends cards. So many people don't anymore.
I got my little 3 foot tree up, and a few small holiday decorations. Also decorated my av & siggy. 🙂

Now is the time to be thinking about UK food delivery slots for after christmas/New Year . Still quite a few available but I'm guessing the spectre of Lockdown will be affecting a lot of us in the New Year.

Apart from booze and the fresh food , I'm pretty much sorted . 🙂 I've been invited out for Xmas day/night but I think I'm gonna pass . I can visit folk on other days when I can have a drink and get a cab/lift home .

Munga's no-cook Christmas plans have gone pretty well . Basically I'm cooking once from scratch for Xmas dinner ...then the whole rest of the holiday is just short order food prep . 😀 I've got a cooked ham coming , cans and jars of every delicacy I can afford . 🙂 I want to eat well ...but be lazy 🙂 .

I think I've just had Covid ? Was pretty poorly for a while , coughing blood and allsorts . Took a bunch of drugs for it off the doctor ...and I'm mostly better ...but I've still got echoes of some sort of virus .Doesn't seem Covid like but my tastebuds did go wonky . Should probably try to get a test sorted ....or I'm grounded at Christmas anyway 😀 .

I hope to get out my little tree and decorate on Sunday, before guests arrive for my birthday celebration, or on Monday, on my actual birthday, depending on what I have time for Sunday. I'm still finishing the cleaning up jobs and that will keep me busy for today and tomorrow.

Happy Birthday!

I've been giving out cards and presents this week, hopefully I'll give out the rest on Sunday. Still need to do a food shop, hopefully I'll do that on Monday, if not I'll have to do it one evening after work, and I'd really rather avoid shopping in the evening.

Going out tomorrow (probably) to get the only present I need to buy - not the only one I have left to buy, but literally the one and only I'm buying lol. The other one I'm making and I'm trying not to stress out over finishing before the 24th.

Hmm, family Christmas dinner is officially cancelled for obvious reasons.
I don't mind it really, just nice to just stay home for the entire holiday.

But it did got me wondering if I shouldn't at least buy some christmassy food for the first time.

@sk,
if all fails, get a box of really expensive Christmas Crackers might be a good idea, (especially if you want the gifts)

can you answer this for me, is it correct to wish Happy Birthday to Jesus? Albeit posthumously.

I've done my food shopping, got 4 more tubes of Pringles, hopefully I won't run out now before Christmas!

Is "run out" a euphemism for "eat them before the 25th" (which was the fate of the last Pringles you bought? I've got to replace 6 bags of Guinness crisps and 1 bag of Bombay Mix.
Sigh...ordered a facsimile advertising poster for Bowie's first USA tour as a gift for my eldest. It was left outside in the rain by Hermes but luckily the Royal Mail postman spotted it and rescued it before the rain seeped through the tube*. I decided to frame it but after unwrapping a new frame I had in the house realised said frame was a centimetre short. I then decided to use an old frame which was the right size and which held a vinyl single of Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights". It's taken me a couple of hours to swap them but I've achieved my objective and thought they both look great. That was before I rehung the vinyl and realised that what I was ACTUALLY displaying was Kite" the B side of Wuthering Heights. 😱 I no longer care...if anyone asks I'll claim Kite was underestimated as a song.

*The fate of a parcel yesterday.
