Christmas!!!!!

You are almost as bad as the department stores getting ready this early!!!!

Thanks for not being a scrooge though!

I used to have reoccurring nightmares where it was Christmas Eve and I had no shopping done. They have stopped the last few years.. but I dont really 'feel' Christmas season being near until Thanksgiving.. granted YOU dont get that Nixxy, but..

i've always said it not christmad until you see the coca cola adverts on tv with the "holidays are coming" and santa in them lol to me thats when the christmas season begins 😛

not prepared by any means
not excited at all
not done any planning i thought about goin to look at shops for christmas presents but ye not got round to even being close to that yet lolz

the coca cola adverts do the same for me as well lol. I love their adverts.

Lyri
OH!! Me too! Everytime my family sees the ad every year, their like 'Someone tell Lyri it's Christmas now' lol
I'm going to Manchester to see the Mighty Boosh live, which I'm sure I've already told a dozen of times, on the 23d. So that's were my mind is right now, we still have to find a nice, cheap hotel with rooms available and everything.
Apart from that, I'm not really a christmassy person. We don't do presents with christmas, and I have a bit of a hate-love relationship with the turkey (and all the other things you might eat, ranging from croissants and chocolate to turkeys, roast everything, potatoes and everything in between.)

This will be my first year which I will celebrate only with my mom and doggies.

It´s a big chance, since I always had thus huuuuuge family dinners, but I´m sure I will still have a great time.

We should make a Secret Santa thread!! X3

Well this is rather late 😉

German supermarkets start in mid September with selling you christmas chocolate and towards the end of the month you will begin to find department stores that sell christmessy stuff to you. I noticed that Maastricht's city center started to get decorated this year before Halloween, as far as I can remember from last year, they began doing that after Halloween. I don't mind, I'm allready in holiday mood, well at least I could do with a break 😎

lol i normally have to think of xmas in august as that is when retail starts thinking and planning - but as i am a home mumi now i have been able to leave it a bit longer 😉

This year went by fast!!!!!!! Christmas around the corner(actually thanksgiving) but you know. lol

Yes .....stores are rushing to set up or have already.! As soon as halloween was over my store botted that stuff out and threw up Christmas trees and ornaments!!! lol

First I have to make it through the next two weeks before Thanksgiving Break.

Then I have to get through two MORE weeks before Christmas Break. I'll probably be pulling a couple of all-nighters for this one; I'll have a LOT to grade in a REALLY short amount of time.

THEN I can relax and be . . . annoyed at the Christmas season. *sigh*

I have already put in my request to Sant . . . uh, Mr. Bear, though. 😀

Awwww........I can help you grade papers!!!
I don't like Christmas, it all seems so forced, there's children everywhere, and mess everywhere, and food everywhere, that's like a nightmare for me, I hate Christmas. I'm not buying anyone presents this year, I told all my family/friends that I'm converting to Judaism.

Not a fan of Christmas here. We're not Christian, so there's no real purpose in celebrating it anyeay. On top of that, there's the Russian New Year's Eve that's a lot like Christmas without the religious aspect, western New Year's Eve and Halloween put together...so it makes Christmas sort of redundant.
Well in my family it was sort of only about the presents when I was going up, but even that is fading away now. The no-presents-deals (something my brother and I started over a decade ago) are getting more common here and honestly I dn't know what to expect this year at all.

And as far as traditions go - well in Germany you get your presents at the 24th in the evening, but the shops are still opened in the morning of taht day. So that was my tradition....shopping for presents every single year on the 24th 😀

Aren't you orthodox' not also christians?
I adore Christmas. In fact these two months, November and December, are my favourite times of the year. There's my birthday and Christmas...there can be no bad here😀

This year will be a little bit different for me since im in the States. I'm going home 3 days before CHrsitmas so my friend an I are going to spend our last few days in New York ( I cannot wait), to me that will be all kinds of magical. I'm hoping to get my shopping done after Thanksgiving so I can just enjoy New York and not stress.

Oh and about when it feels like Christmas, I have three things that must happen before it is Christmas:

1.) I must here Fairytale of New York on the radio
2.) I have to see the 'Holidays are coming' Coca-Cola ad
3.) and I must see this Guinness ad, it just sums up an Irish Christmas perfectly YouTube - Guinness Christmas Advert (it shows a little bit of the town of Claddagh too, where the infamous ring originated🙂)

And if you've never seen it, you HAVE to watch the movie "A Christmas Story"
Looking forward to christmas for some extra days of work...

Besides that I don't really care, haven't even bought any presents the recent years.
I used to try to find present to at least my nieces and nephew but they are so many now and they already got everything so I have given up. I give them loads of money for birthdays instead.

I used to get tired of all christmas talk and commercials but lately it haven't bothered me so much.
Probably because I hardly watch any TV these days and I'm not exactly a mallrat...

Oh, I'm also looking forward to getting my christmas ham from mom 🙂

I love Christmas!!!

I love the fact the each family does it slightly differently, and different things mean different things for each person.

The things that signal Christmas is coming for are:
- I go for a big meal on the last day of school term with all my mates.
- The Coca Cola advert is on the TV.
- Mum starts planning when she's going to get all the Christmas food. (I usually go with her and put piles of stuff in the trolley at the supermarket 😀)

*sighs* I'm all excited now.

Ok, I'm TOTALLY into the whole Christmas spirit already. I had my Christmas ringtones all planned out since mid-October, and I put them on my phone on Nov 1st. As soon as Hallowe'en's over, it's Christmas time! Edinburgh's getting all Christmasy really early this year too - the shopping centre I walk through every morning has all its decorations up. I'm just waiting for the music to start playing.

STARBUCKS HAS THE RED CUPS!!!

I can't wait till December. Then I won't look so crazy, and won't get so many strange looks when my phone starts playing Carol of the Bells ridiculously loudly whenever I get a call. And I refuse to listen to Fairytale of New York till then. Don't want to burn out too soon.

Oh, and scobro? I suddenly feel like converting to Judaism.

Oka, you're awesome. I'm not alone!
I am the Christmas freak in Denmark. No doubts about it. I love it!
I have bought all my X-mas presents, but I am buying again, cos I just love shopping and watch all teh santas, and pretty ribbons. The street lights, and trees with decoration. I LOVE IT!
I already bought my Christmas hat this year. It's red, like a real elf's hat, and when I press a bottom, it blinks with the words "I belive in santa."

My wardrope is organized in colours of the season, and I have bought small antlers to put on my bunnies. 😀
Crazy? YOu bet! But I love Christmas so much. The feeling, and the joy. And of course no Christmas is perfect without:

The muppets' Christmas Charol 😀
