I do most of my shopping online. This year my brother and I are going joint to get my folks a Wii as my mum really wants one.

Soon it will be time for the red cups - aka Starbucks....i'm addicted to Gingerbread Latte's. I love Edinburgh when they have the german market with the lights and the ice rink. Oh yeah and the little thing called Doctor Who Christmas Special 😉

Soon? FAITH!! THEY'VE BEEN RED FOR 2 DAYS ALREADY!!!
This is too soon! Everything before december 1st is too soon. Not that anyone cares. The shops have already begun. Meh!

I love what christmas should be all about. The problem is that it usually don´t get that way. At least not in our family. Everyone stressing around muttering "it´s christmas. Be happy!" with a voice that is anything but jolly. But it´s getting better over the years and now it´s quite peaceful and nice. Which is about time. I (yes I) convinced the rest of the family last year that we don´t need gifts anymore. So we bought to the kids (under the age of 18) and collected moneyy and gave to chairty instead. I´mspoiled as it is. Getting gifts are fun of course but giving to charity was an even better feeling. And that way I saved some money since I didn´t give as much to charity as I usually spend on gifts.

This year is a little different. I´m gonna buy some friends some gifts. Which guys usually don´t do but it´s not the first time. Having more girls than guys as friends make you do the "girly" stuff... 😉 Not that I mind. It´s gonna be fun, even though I as always have a hard time knowing what to give. And for some reason mum has stated that "if you want gifts just say so and you´ll get them". Who doesn´t want gifts? But I refuse. I started my new tradition last year and I´m sticking to it. If you get gifts you buy gifts and I didn´t miss running around in stores one bit last year.

As usual I´m going "home" for christmas. We´ve always celebrated at my parents. The relatives show up as well. Three things on the agenda.

* The christmas smörgåsbord. Yummy, yummy, yummy!

*Kalle Anka (Dondald Duck). This is gonna sound so stupid to you guys but 3 pm every christmas eve we got one hour of disneyclips (and most of them don´t have anytging to do with christmas!!!) put together for a christmas special on tv. And it´s a huge thing. Plans are made so people can fit in watching it. It´s ridicolous. Around 50% of the population watch it. Can you believe it? Say it all together now" Crazy swedes!" 😀 Ok, I´l be honest. I don´t need to watch it anymore. If the kids have a lot of company I stay away but if they don´t have that many grown-ups with them I´ll watch with them. The most famous clip (not in general but as refered to the christmas special) is Ferdinand The Bull The funny thing is that it´s also the most hated part.

* Handing out the christmas gifts. Which isn´t done before 6 pm at the earliest. Now, last year we didn´t have that many gifts to hand out but you get the idea.

And the rest of the evening is just relxing. Maybe a late walk just to move a little that day and not just eat too much food and christmas snacks.

Once again. This is way too soon! You´re such a bad influence, you know that? *goes to put christmas songs on his mp3 player...*

ugh. *shudders* Vhristmas songs. I have to listen to those on a tape everytime I get into my grandmother's car *shudders*
That is one classic swedish christmas Kinslayer 🙂

Mine is pretty much the same.
But there is no swedish christmas without Karl-Bertil Johnssons Julafton!

That brilliant animated short story (and the food) makes christmas worth having.

I didn´t care much for Karl Bertil as a kid but my dad watched it all the time. Now I watch it from time to time but it´s still not a must for me. But it sure is a classic.
I do like christmas, but it just isnt the same as when I was a kid ofcourse, Im not all excited about it or anything. I love buying presents for people though. I always go totally over board with gifts for my family and friends, its almost as fun as buying stuff for myself, lol. Its always a good feeling when you buy them something you know they are gonna love or its something they really wanted. Havent started with the buying yet though, probably wont until the beginning of december unless something catches my eye. I think it is a bit too early yet, I mean I was at my cousin's place like last week and she already has her tree up which is just nuts to me. When do you guys start puttin the decorations up?.

Am I like the only one here that doesn't LOVE Christmas? I don't HATE it, but it's just too stressful for me. I suck at knowing what to get people and I get too worked up over it. (Panic attacks like WOAH!) And because I suck at presents .. I feel bad receiving presents 'cause mine are all dodgy (in my mind anyway no one's ever been brave enough to actually admit that they are, though)
My family's never really gone over board with Christmas ... we stopped putting a tree up years ago. We have this tiny little crappy tree .... that's managed to stay somewhere in the lounge room all year.

A couple of years ago, I took one of my mum's smallest cactii and dubbed it the Christmas Cactus.

Almost every year we visit my extended family. My aunty + uncle and their 2 kids. This wouldn't be so bad, if my uncle's sole purpose in life was to make me cry every year.

So yeah ... Christmas is being DENIED until a later date in my books 😛

I'm SUPER excited for Christmas for 2 reasons....
the obvious😛
and I"M GOING TO TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!haha, so yes, I'm very excited!

To answer the question:

No,I'm not ready. Yet. That doesn't mean I'm not trying to figure out who's getting what for Christmas, however.

And,I'll add this too....there's at least 2 stations who duel to get Christmas music on first. And right about now is the time that they do it. When they do it,those stations will go off my car radio until Christmas is over. Why? Well,I'm not ready for Christmas music until at LEAST December 1st.

I wish you could've made this thread about the holidays instead of Christmas for all of us out there who don't celebrate Christmas. I'm Jewish, so I celebrate Hannukah, which starts December 21 and ends December 28.

Well, create a Hannukah thread then!
I am so not ready for the christmas season. But I am going to go all out this year and get a tree and everything even though will be going home for christmas.

Well im working everday but christmas day, so not looking foward to that. i love buying people presents more than i like receiving them. im not too excited yet, but im starting to hear the christmas tunes and decorations everyday, everywhere. eeeeeeek! better hurry up though there really isnt that long is there.
