Christmas

There are tons of lights up already... earlier than usual this year, it seems.

I need snow to get in the Christmas spirit, and lately we haven't been getting much until January. But I will probably listen to some music this week, and next weekend help my parents put their tree up. Tonight I plan to watch Miracle on 34th Street, which is the traditional kickoff of the Christmas season for me.

I like christmas for the extra days off work. It's usually easy to take the days between christmas and New Year off too.
So it's a nice, and often needed, break.

Regarding the christmas itself I care less and less for each year.
The family agreed to stop buying gifts a long time ago, which is great. That was just pointless.
Some do it anyway of course but that's their problem... 🙂

Personally I don't even get presents to the kids, my nieces and nephews, anymore.
It's just impossible to get decent presents to them all. So I gave up.
They will get something bigger every once in a while when I spot something fun by random instead.

All this has made my holiday season very relaxed these days which makes it all so much better.

Last Christmas, I spent a lot of time trying to find the perfect gift for my niece and nephew...finally, I found something really nice. I was so happy. But their grandparents bought them these huge, super expensive presents, and mine were quickly tossed aside.

Nobody gets a gift this year. 😛

Ungrateful bastards doesn't deserve a gift. (Old jungle saying)
I'm a wait-to-the-last-minute guy. The rush makes my senses animal sharp as I push through crowds of people finding the perfect present.

My birthday is this month, so that might be part of the reason why, because I have that to celebrate first. But I know what I am getting everyone.

I will be spending the holidays with my sister and her family. Should be fun.

I insist on having packages under the tree, but it's just me and my parents this year, and all they seem to want are Kindle books. Anyone know how to wrap a Kindle book and put it under the tree?

Right with you there on last minutes. Besides, it's too depressing to shop as the days are getting shorter. After December 21 when the days start getting longer is the ideal time to shop.

Dude, fist bump!
Work is getting busier, not that you would think it given how much I've been on here today!

After work today I'm going to watch a Christmas flower demonstration which should be good, or something different at least.

It's a local florist that's going to talk about growing their flowers, and do a display for us, probably with flowers associated with Christmas or colours anyway.

That sounds awesome. Will they serve like tea also? Make it a proper event and all that. The only Christmas flower I know of are mums.

There's going to be wine, or tea, juice etc plus biscuits I'm sure! I'm hoping there's going to be a good turn out for it.

It's a bit of a drive for me, if I lived closer I would go.

Just got done ordering my gift for my sister, less than a day after we agreed not to exchange presents this year because she and my brother-in-law couldn't afford it, lol. I don't need to receive in order to give, so she gets a simple, cheap custom-made photoalbum with pics of she and I from our childhood 🙂

Now all I need are presents for my 4 parents and I'm set for this year! 😀

@Puppet if you happen to find something for my Dad let me know, he's the last one to buy for.

Ah, you're an early shopper, too. It feels nice and stress-free, doesn't it :D
I start buying gifts in august/september, just to spread the cost mainly, I will never know how people are able to just go out xmas week and buy everyone's presents, how are you not broke?? :-o lol I do love christmas, I want the tree and decorations up the 1st December, so I can soak up as much christmassey vibes as I can for the whole month 😀 We don't really do much more christmas food shopping then usual, as we don't usually have people over, it's usually just me and my husband, our families are dotted all over the place, plus we live in a tiny 1 bedroom bungalow, not much room to move lol 😀

If you put the tree up on the first, how do you keep it from drying out and losing all the needles?
Instant "Amends" for @Taake, just add Angel. It's one hour and a half before sunset and you can safely take him for a walk.

Just taken a punt on buying Little Mix tickets for my girlfriend as a Christmas present. Hopefully she'll like them and find someone else to go with 🙂

What are a Little Mix
@GwenRaiden Spice Girls for kids. Or in this case a Taylor Swift substitute because damned if I'm paying £90 for a ticket to sit on the roof of Wembley for a gig even if it is a gift.
