Christophe Beck`s score!

Is anyone else in here as obsessed about his beautiful score for season 2-4 (+ The Gift & Once More With Feeling)?

I`ve been obsessed ever since I started to notice the Buffy/Angel love theme during season 2. It is pure perfection! And I remember how happy I was when I bought the first Buffy soundtrack and realised that they had actually included it in the tracklist. Then I found all the other stuff he made for season 2 and 3. And offcourse the perfect Sacrifice from The Gift.

I am! I love it. I made a Buffy playlist on my ipod with other Buffy tunes. My favourite are:

Massacre
Faith's End
and heaps of others.

I love Massacre! Specially the end when the Buffy/Angel theme starts. It`s so powerful with heartbeats and everything! 😀
And Faith`s End is massive as well!

One thing that has always bothered me is that there was never any release (or leak) of the beautiful Willow/Oz theme from season 4. Specially the version used in the end of Wild At Heart when Oz leaves. Sooo good!

Another thing...

I wrote an email La La Land Records (they release a lot of tv show soundtracks!) asking them about a Buffy release. And this was the reply I got:

We looked into doing a box set years ago but some other company had the rights and just did that one cd release. Major bummer!

The music for me complements Buffy so much and has an enormous influence on how i react to certain scenes. I've just seen the scene where Oz leaves Willow for the second time and that scene is made so much more emotional by the wonderful music in the background.

That scene isn't an exception either, throughout seasons 2-4 Beck's music makes the show matter more, its effect on me as a viewer is evident as i see these great scenes play out. Without the music, the emotional effect couldn't have been replicated, in these cases the music forms the heart and sole of the scene because it reflects the pain seen in these scenes so well.

Score music is not for everyone. Before I "discovered" how much I loved the score from Buffy, I would never have thought I would ever care about backgroundmusic in movies and tv shows. It really wasn`t my "type" of music at all...so I totally understand you 😉

I'm no expert on the Buffy music, but maybe I will be after a rewatch.
I do like the music though. It usually fits the tone very well, and obviously "Once More With Feeling" has an amazing soundtrack, but that's more Joss's doing.

What special about his scores, is the fact that they make me emotional. I'm either sad, scared or happy. They make me feel. He's brilliant at that!

paks agrees: I have the score but some of the songs you mentioned are not on it. Like Little Miss Muffet. Where do you find that?

Here is another one that didn't make the list. "One Last Moment" which played in The Prom when Buffy is sitting on her roof outside her bedroom window and just before Angel walks away in Graduation Day 2. It is a beautiful yet haunting melody.

I just listened to it again last night...just listening to Sacrifice brings a tear in my eye..and I just finished season 5 also. 🙁

No there`s only that one official release.
But back in 2001 (I think) two promotion discs leaked.
One for season 2 and one for season 3. Thank God!! 😀

I hope all the other discs will leak one day as well! 😛

I adore Christophe Beck. In a perfect world he would score my entire life whilst Morgan Freeman narrated it. *sigh*

I have a particular soft spot of Close Your Eyes. B/A aside, it is one of the most gorgeous pieces of music I have ever heard.

Sacrifice makes me tear up and for reasons unknown, I absolutely adore Loneliness of Six (the last scene from Lovers Walk).

I love his score from "Cheaper By The Dozen"! Specially the one called "The Stadium".
Reminds me of Class Protector!

Nothing new from Buffy or Angel though...just the old released/leaked ones.

But there is a contact form there...hm...let`s all bombard him with emails!! lol! 😀
