Well for a start, never thought i'd see the words 'Classic' and 'Ace ventura' in the same line so Kudos Master....

OK, well there are just too many, but you cannot have a 'Classics' section without Lemmon,
12 Angry Men, Some Like it Hot or Glengarry Glen Ross.

Three Magnificent, funny and or poigniant movies.

Same with Hepburn, Audrey or Katherine(no self respecting Lesbian doesnt find these two women gorgeous)

Though i fear this thread has a possibility of becoming quite pretentious, so beware;0

Breakfast at Tiffany's. Great movie (love Audrey).

The Princess Bride (grew up watching that but never truly appreciated the humour until I was older)

The Black Stallion - directed by Francis Ford Copolla. Most beautiful cinematography of any movie EVER. Great horse wrangling for sure. FANTASTIC MOVIE if you have not seen it go and rent it! 😀

I LOVED The Princess Bride when I was little
Oh, I just watched one today on television. It was an old John Wayne cowboy movie.

John Wayne wears an eyepatch, and he plays this old sherrif who goes into the badlands to capture bad guys. So he's been chasing this band of bad guys the whole picture, and he finally tracks them down. They're on one side of this field, and he's on the other. They're shouting insults back and forth at each other, and the head bad guy shouts, "You talk mighty big for a one-eyed fat man".

John Wayne's sitting atop his horse. He cocks his head and says, "Fill your hands you son of a bitch". The whole band of bad guys ride at John Wayne shooting. He rides alone from the other side, a six shooter in one hand and a winchester in the other, twirling the winchester to cock it. He's got the reins between his teeth.

I was so loving that. If that scene isn't classic, it should be.

Found it. It's called True Grit. Here's a blurb from a Roger Ebert review.

it is the Western you should see if you only see one Western every three years (an act of denial I cannot quite comprehend in any case).

It is based faithfully on Charles Portis' novel, and it tells the story of Mattie Ross from near Dardanelle, in Yell County. One day her father rides off to the city and is murdered by a cowardly snake. Mattie (played with the freshness of sweet cream by Kim Darby) rides to town to hire somebody to go into the Indian Territory and capture the scoundrel.

She strikes a bargain with U.S. Marshal Rooster Cogburn (Wayne), who is a one-eyed, unwashed, sandpapered, roughshod, fat old rascal with a heart of gold well-covered by a hide of leather. Then a Texas Ranger (Glen Campbell) gets into the act when he turns up and claims he has a reward for the killer (who also, it appears, plugged a state senator in Texas). "It is a small reward," the ranger explains, "but he was not a large senator."

After two horse-trading scenes in which Mattie outtalks the horse trader and drives him to distraction, the three set out into Indian Territory. Rooster and the ranger can't get rid of Mattie so she comes along. And we embark on a glorious adventure not far removed from Huck Finn's trip down the Mississippi, for this is also an American odyssey. Portis wrote his dialog in a formal, enchantingly archaic style that has been retained in Marguerite Roberts' screenplay.

Campbell, who needs some acting practice, finds it difficult to make the dialog convincing but Hathaway pulls him through. And Miss Darby, especially in the horse-trading scenes, is a wonder. You may even laugh aloud when she observes that geldings, in her experience, are not a good buy if you mean to breed them. And as for Wayne, I believe he can say almost anything and make it sound convincing. (In Otto Preminger's "In Harm's Way" he had to say: "I mean to get into harm's way," and he even made that convincing.)

Wayne, in fact, towers over this special movie. He is not playing the same Western role he always plays. Instead, he can play Rooster because of all the Western roles he has played. He brings an ease and authority to the character. He never reaches. He never falters. It's all there, a quiet confidence that grows out of 40 years of acting. God loves the old pros.

Some of my favorite classics are.

The Quiet Man (John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara)- favorite John Wayne film.
Yours, Mine And Ours (Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda)- the remake was ok, but the original was the best.
What's Up Doc? (Barbara Streisand and Ryan O'Neil)- loved the end when they are in court and the judge is reprimanding the figure under the blanket and Barbara peeks out and says "Hi Daddy", its hilarious.
Barefoot in the Park (Jane Fonda and Robert Redford)- Ahhh, young Robert Redford!!
Moonstruck (Cher and Nicolas Cage)- especially the part when Cher slaps Nicolas and tells him to "Snap out of it!!" and slaps him again.
Steel Magnolias - Too many stars to mention, but I just love Olympia Dukakis and Shirley Maclaine in it!!
