Clever Metaphors!

Uncle Rorys new post on each character representing one emotion inspired this post...I love Season 2, I think its my favourite season of Buffy. i want everyone to post here any sort of obvious metaphors they can think of with regards to the action in season 2. Off the top of my head here are mine: (swpied from my previous post lol)

Angel/Angelus with obvious boyfriend that changed theme, No Assembly Required- with the former popular high school student, now 'a zombie' wanting to re-live his high school glory and not being able to progress,move on from that. Halloween with its message of being yourself rather than turning to your costume! Oh and Go Fish with the overusge of steroids turning the swimmers into fish monsters! Becoming- when Angel becomes himself again, through Willows magic. Perhaps representing a once loving boyfriend coming back to his senses? Of course, its too late and Buffy has to give him up. Man, season 2 is gooooooood.:: vampire
 
The most obvious METAPHOR of the season is Buffy sleeps with Angel and all hell breaks loose.

It could be a metaphor for -
Teen Pregnancy
AIDS
or
Domestic Violence.

The metaphor for Buffy sleeping with Angel was purely teentage, when the guy loses interest, or changes after the girl sleeps with him. Ok Bangel cant sleep together. Why? One reason as metaphor could be a sexually transmitted disease i guess. Or the fact that hes too old for her.
 
It's possible that Angel losing his soul after sleeping with Buffy was meant to represent the sort of personality change that a guy like Parker from s4 goes through once he's got the sex he wanted. The constant reassurance from Giles that Angel losing his soul is not Buffy's fault fits any of the metaphors people have suggested, I think - STDs, AIDS, pregnancy, abusive boyfriends, etc
 
^ Yep, I agree.
It's especially clear in the scene that Buffy first speaks to Angelus. Word-for-word, he says things that a guy like Parker would say. (In fact, a bunch of it Parker DID say.)

Here's a couple more..
- When Joyce finds out Buffy is the Slayer, she reacts like some parents might in discovering their child was gay. It reminded me of a "coming out" argument, really.
- Buffy losing her virginity, and also losing her "perfect" boyfriend - all-around loss of innocence.
- The Judge representing old-fashioned set traditions, and Buffy literally blowing it up with new technology..okay, I know I'm reaching!

I love S2 too. 😀
 
I thought it was pretty obvious that Angel turning into Angelus after shagging Buffy was to show that men become complete b******** after getting what they want: Sex
 
You don't have to be a man hater to know that's all most guys care about these days though
 
I think there is some confusion on this thread about what a metaphor is. The Judge old versus the technology new thing is dead on though.

Okay, I'm not really sure whether or not I got the right concept of metaphor in my head now, but anyway, I came up with something I think could be a metaphor (albeit maybe a bit far-fetched).

When Angel looses his soul, two of the people we see him kill are the only gypsies on the show. Could killing (/the death of) the gypsies be a metaphor for the status of Angel's gypsy given soul?

Or heres another radical metaphor, there are references to Angel 'turning' right? Maybe its a mataphor for a boyfriend going gay?!
