Cloverfield

It does look interesting. Trailers that don't tell you what the movie's ABOUT frustrate me, though. Like the one for Atonement, that new one with Kiera Knightley. I have no idea what that movie's about, but by Crom, it's well liked by the critics.

The Atonement trailer gave me the impression that the guy and Keira fall in love, the little girl is sad because she had a crush on him, then something bad happens, and the little girl lies and blames the guy, who is sent to jail, 'falsely accused' then becomes a soldier and then everyone thinks about what they did, how much they want to see each other etc. I think, lol i saw the trailer once ^_^ I could be off, but I want to see that movie too
 
It sounds like an interesting movie, I just hope it's something better than the killer cannibal zombie mutant thing. That's been done to death.
 
My friend is so excited about this movie, so Im going to go with him. Can someone tell me what cloverfield means? Is it a suburb, or something thats in new york? Or is it just a field of clovers?
 
lol, isn't Cloverfield the name of the company in 'Who Framed Rodger Rabbit'?

i'm not really a fan of horror movies, so i'll probably stay away from this one. but i remember seeing a trailer for it when my friend and i saw 'Transformers'. we were confused because there was no name given, just '2008'.

Cloverfield looks interesting, so I'll be marking that one down on the ole calendar.

Still, the trailer does remind me in a small way of that Matthew Broderick "Godzilla" debacle a few years back. << shudders >>
I really hope "Cloverfield" doesn't end up that way.

I loved that version of Godzilla. It was cool.
i hear its called cloverfield because this particular incident with the monster is referred to by the military as "Project Cloverfield" in the movie. if the reason will be explained or not, im not sure.

Man i love movies (esp horror) set in NYC, because being i live here, it scares the bajeezes out of me and my friends more than anything (like I Am Legend...seeing an empty manhattan? REALLY scary for us who know daily what manhattan is like).
 
The way it looks, it looks so 'real' as if it could be happening. Set in the current time etc. It's a omg! this could happen. I love stuff like that 😀 But from the trailer the monster,bad guy, whatever it is, I can't tell! It's like arg! tell us! ^_^ Maybe the people in the movie don't know so we won't that would be funny, and annoying! but I doubt that would happen. I heard someone say godzilla, others some weird water monster.. idk
 
can't be godzilla, they dont have the rights to do it. I hear Voltron, wont be him, he has a movie planned for 2009. JJ Abrahms keeps saying its a brand new monster, not something we've seen before. Makes it way more interesting for me (not a godzilla fan).
 
JJ Abrams is a freaking storytelling genius and the screenwriter, Drew Goddard, worked on Buffy, Alias, and Lost, so you can be damned sure I'm going to go see this movie. I'm even planning on seeing Star Trek this Christmas because of Abram's involvement, and I'm not a Trek fan at all. I'd probably see anything JJ Abrams did, I think he's my favorite person in the business (even better than Joss).

I want too this on opening day but I have a feeling it will be completely packed so I might have to wait for the week after...

Some people are saying its a 'Lost' spin off. But that just sounds crazy to me coz Lost hasn't even finished yet.
 
yeah and how exactly would a monster attacking NYC have anything to do with whats going on, on some island somewhere in any fashion? but far stretched for me!
 
People originally speculated it was Lost-related, but that was at the beginning. I don't think anyone thinks that anymore. 🙂
 
Why is it that anytime something bad happens to a city it's ALWAYS New York City?
Anyways the movie looks okay, but I can't help but to think of that really bad Godzilla movie from a few years back everytime I see the trailer. I'm sure it'll be great, though.

^_^ That's why they find it within themselves (directors and the lot) to make huge ass monster movies within New York city.
It gives you the feel that omg... this looks real! Everyone knows NYC, well most people do so they get the sense it is happening maybe? idk
 
of course NYC is the coolest. Cuz im here.

If i moved to like, kenya, all of a sudden THAT would be the coolest place.

It's all because of me, you see 😉 (no, im really NOT this full of myself haha)
