I just read this thread, and i gotta say i don't understand why you assume that line meant he knew Anya was going to die.
He quotes the 'from beneath you' line which indicates he has some knowledge, awareness of 'The First'.
He is a villain too. I think its obvious he was saying that by aligning with Buffy and co(saving the frat boys implies that) she is on the losing side, cause lets be honest, who would back a Slayer, a Brick-Layer...(hehe Xander the Brick-Layer) a witch thats too scared to use her powers, a screaming teen and an ex ex ex demon with no powers against the First Evil
No i think people are looking too deep into D'Hoffryns words there as a foreshadowing, i mean if he genuinely knew she was going to die, he would not have sent those Demons after her, because he must have known she would definitley die in that fight, meaning she would survive all his attacks.
This is just Evil Posturing, nothing more.
