lol so in continuance of my "oh god, help me please!" series of threads...

Does anyone know of a program or a way in general to combine two audio tracks into one? I have some film I shot but when I import it into my editing program, the dialogue is seperated into left and right tracks. I only have 2 audio tracks available in my program and I want to add a music track too, so I need to combine the two dialogues into one.

A little help? 🙂

PS If anyone has a band and want to donate the use of some music they have lying around to my short film, pm me lol. I can't pay you, but I can put you in the credits 😉
 
What kind of editing software do you use? I think that as for premiere and final cut, you can add extra audio tracks, and I can almost remember a plug-in in final cut (and probably premiere too) that makes a stereo audiotrack into mono.

Otherwise, "Audacity" is a free sound editor/recorder where you can save audio tracks which are in stereo as mono. I think that the easiest way is to set up the software to record the audio from the video in mono.
 
Yeah, I was gonna say Audacity. Audacity: Download and make sure to get the MP3 exporter plug-in at Audacity: How do I download and install the LAME MP3 encoder?.

It's free and ridiculously good fun. It lets you tool around with sound files to your heart's content, although I'm told it may diminish the quality a little bit. Not so much that I'd notice, but I have crazy old-woman hearing, so bear that in mind. Ooh, and it gives you an excuse to put do that one on/one off thing with your headphones and pretend you're Fatboy Slim, which would be worth having it for alone.
