I just got done watching season 7 over again because my GF watched the first 6 seasons on vacation and we just finished season 7 together. My GF right away was saying how much she hated Kennedy and it really rammed the point home that it is not just me that hates this character. She was so arrogant and annoying does anyone else here agree with that?

You'll get a LOT of people on this board that agrees with you, as for me, I love Kennedy!

Really what about her do you like? I'm not being sarcastic I am curious. I personally just really don't like her at all.

Kennedy is just a terrible character, pointless even. The only thing she was any use for was getting Willow back on the lesbian saddle and anyone could have filled that role. Like Slayer6 said, she was arrogant and annoying. She had this sense of entitlement for some reason, perhaps because she was one of the first potentials to come or because she was banging one of the original Scoobies, but either way she felt like she was something special when she was practically useless. She has only gotten more entitled in the comics from what I have seen.

Entitlement was her biggest flaw in my opinion as well. That scene where all the potentials are out in the yard training and she is acting like a drill sergeant was one of the scenes that I hated her the most. Kennedy seemed to think she was automatically entitled to be a boss and thought she was the next in line to be slayer.

I think I like the way she treats Willow. Kennedy is an arrogant b*tch, and I'll be the first to admit it, but I think she was good for Willow. After Tara, she needed someone to bounce back with, someone to take care of her. In no way do I think Kennedy is right for Willow in the long run, but I think she was great for her in s7. Also, she might have had a bad attitude, but I do have to admire how she stands up for herself.

I can definitely see why a lot of people don't like her, Kennedy actually reminds me a bit of someone I used to date. She was a complete b*itch out in the open, but behind closed doors, she was just the most comforting and loving person.

Oh, and did I mention Kennedy is hot lol.

I will agree that I think Kennedy was good for Willow in the very very short term. I think she was good for Willow as like a fling or something but other than that she was useless. Seems to me kennedy caused more tension than anything else. I think Kennedy was trying to pull everyone but especially Willow away from Buffy.

I don't like Kennedy, but compared to some I'm more just really apathetic towards her. I don't really care about her all that much, one way or the other.

The one positive thing I will say about Kennedy is that I liked Willow as a character much, much more with Kennedy than I did with Tara. I felt like because Tara was such a passive character the writers tried to respond by making Willow much more aggressive, and unlikable, character. I felt like Willow got really arrogant during his time with Tara. In my view, and that's all it is, Willow and Tara weren't really good for one another, even if they loved each other to the ends of the Earth.

Kennedy meanwhile, despite being really rude and in the way for virtually all of S7, made me like Willow more. As an aside, it's difficult for a new character, any new character, to join a tight cast seven seasons into a major show. That's hard, any way you look at it.

Richard Madden, boyfriend of the new love of my life Jenna-Louise Coleman, has a point. She did get Willow back to her old self that we all loved so thats a plus.

I agree She did help Willow but that was the only plus next to a bunch of negatives

I feel terrible saying this but I was hoping that Kennedy never left the final battle.....

I always felt like they wrote her as a white-collar lesbian Faith.

You have two characters like Angel & Spike who on paper sound exactly alike, but were written, acted, and directed completely differently. Then you have Kennedy & Faith who on paper sound pretty different, but in implementation, she felt like a bad copy of Faith.

I don't know that I agree with that assessment at all. I think that Spike and Angel are completely different on paper and the way they were on the show and furthermore I see no similarities in Faith and Kennedy except they are both brash and obnoxious. Other than that faith was a tough independent emotionally scarred wild woman. Kennedy on the other hand was an arrogant know it all with a big mouth and a huge superiority complex.

I'm pretty sure James Marsters, David Boreanaz, and Joss Whedon have all made that same statement, so I'm comfortable sticking by it 😛

Well, yeah, as I said, on paper Faith and Kennedy sound completely different... :/

To me, it felt like Kennedy was doing a bad impression of Faith--the speech patterns & mannerisms...

It felt almost like that scene with Giles & Wesley when Alexis was basically just doing a Giles impression, only that was done on purpose, and was amazingly hilarious 🙂

I liked Kennedy, I think she was very similar to Buffy.

I've never understood the hate, she was a late teens girl who finds out she's part of a chosen group who have to protect the world and wanted a say in how it's done, she wasn't one to sit back and just be given orders to follow blindly, same as Buffy.

She is officially drill Sargent. She was found by her watcher, shes not brand new to the whole slayer thing, she's been in training already so it makes sense they choose her to train the others. The only other person who could have trained her was Buffy or Giles, the rest of the scoobies have helped in fights, but they were not trained, and Giles was coming and going getting slayers, and Buffy had other stuff. I think the show heavily implies she's given that responsibility by the scoobies, she doesn't just take it.

I'm not much of a Kennedy hater, I don't like her style and I think that she lacks swag, but I don't know, there's something off about her relationship with Willow. Obviously I don't have anything solid to back it apart from some masturbatory circumstantial evidence but I think that Willow might just have unintentionally ( as in "Same Time, Same Place" ) put a love spell ( as in "Something Blue" ) on Kennedy. This whole thing just seems way too convenient to me, almost unBuffy-like, you know. I think that Kennedy might just be a victim, it also makes for a much more interesting story in my opinion.

I just don't see it with Angel and Spike at all so please explain to me the similarities you see on paper between the two.

I understand that and actually had already come to that conclusion my point was more how she acted about it. Just something about it irked me I honestly don't know if I can even explain what it is about that scene in particular. I know that is not a good argument haha but that is just what it's like for me with that scene. Something about it that I can't quite put my finger on really made me grind my teeth.

Both Vampires with a soul who wasted their first life, spend an eternity traveling around the world with a vampire lover causing torment and havoc, only to meet a slayer fall in love and now fight for good.

Without their personalities their pretty much the same person.

I can definitely see why she annoys people, though not in the scene your talking about, lol, but in general she is too in your face, she needed to dial it back a bit.

I think she's interesting cuz from what we learn of slayers and watchers, Buffy and Faith went undiscovered (well I'm presuming on Faith, but it always seemed that way) and were very independent, whereas Kendra was found and she was more submissive to her watcher, Kennedy was found but she doesn't seem submissive she seems closer in thinking to how Faith and Buffy are, which makes sense if you think of slayers as alone, they have to be like that, Faith even suggests thats why her and Buffy dont get alone, I could see why that would be true, if there was a pattern to slayers personalities.

I think the only problem with Kennedy is she didn't have enough screentime, she had what, probably had like a full season/season and a half worth of character development, of what should have been played out in the background and less in your face put into her however many episodes. It was too much, to fast.

But as a character, she makes sense to me.

Personalities are what make the person them not the circumstances. So while I will agree that they have similar circumstances on paper that doesn't make them similar people on paper which is what I was referring to and assumed that's what the debate was about so that is my mistake for assuming.

I see what you mean about her developing as a character too quickly. Yes she was too in your face and while it was due to lack of time to develop as a character I can't look past how much she bugs me.
