Not being into the contemporary comics scene there's a couple of writers slated for Buffy 8, I know nothing about. One is Brad Meltzer, who is marked in as the writer for the second to last arc before Joss takes it over again for the finale.

I've just been clicking around reading about Brad Meltzer. He's a comic writer and best selling novelist. He has a book coming up called Book of lies. There's a video trailer for it. "Joss Whedon (“Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” “Dollhouse”), Damon Lindeloff (“Lost”), Christopher Hitchens (“God is Not Great”), Brian K. Vaughan ("Y The Last Man," "Lost") and more" are in it.

Wanna see?

They've got one of those of internet viral things going on to publicize The Book of lies. Go here for another bit of it...

The Book is Real – The Book of Lies

Here's a little blurb from an interview where Brad Meltzer talks Buffy 8 a tiny bit.

Last Will and Testament and The Book of Lies aren’t the only things you’ve been cooking up; what can we talk about at this point in regards to Buffy? Can you give us any kind of teaser stuff on what characters or storylines you might be dealing with?

METLZER: Nope. Can’t. Joss knows and he’s really running it like a show runner. He knows who’s on what script; when, where and how. He has the schedule on, I’m sure, the master wipe-off board in his head. But I’m toward the end and so I actually get some time. What I think is the most important thing right now about "Buffy" is—and this is what mattered to me—is whenever I watch any show, I like to believe that there is some grand treasure map that’s being followed as opposed to, "Let’s make this crap up as we go along." And I can tell you from the very first e-mail before the very first issue was out, I saw the treasure map. And it is breathtaking.

I like his work..."Identity Crisis" has been one of the few non-Buffy or Angel comics that I've bought recently.

I think I could get into that Book of Lies thing. He's linked Superman to the Cain and Abel story. It looks like it might be very clever.

Is that why they got him for Buffy 8, do you think? Is that his thing, where he puts all the pieces of a seemingly inscrutable puzzle together, and it all suddenly makes sense?
