Does something always happen to you, whether it be a cold or headache, seasonal or daily? Do you get sick easily, or are allergic to something? What makes you SICK...

I often get migranes, ever since I was two. I have one right now, too, and it's KILLING me...I also can't eat fast food. Any fast food, whether it be Micky D's, Wendys', Mandrin, whatever, I get so sick to my stomach.

My mother can't eat "HelluvaGoodDip"...next time she eats it, she said she's sure to die...

At work I sometimes get light-headed for a few secs and my eyes water. Its down to lack of eating in the morning but gosh-darnit im not hungry until about 1!

breakfast - most important meal of the day:)
I used to be sick a lot. With colds, that is. Now though I haven't been sick for about a year. But things that make me sick...

Well I have the latest lunch in school (lucky me) and if I didn't eat anythign for breakfast then it gets to point where I don't know if I want to throw up or if I'm just incredibly hungry.

I'm really allergic to cats. I get all watery-eyed and stuffy and start coughing and sneezing like crazy. Unless I take my allergy medicine in the morning, but I seem to always forget 😛

Allergies...I've got a ton. Perfume (since it's Christmas, the perfume terrorists are out at the mall, doing drive-by sprayings-I really can't go there without risking a pounding headache). Dust. Cats. MSG. Preservatives containing sulfates. All this stuff plays hob with my wellbeing. And it's an age thing, but I'm developing a really nice case of arthritis in my left hand. Some days it hurts, others it doesn't. That's the worst part, you never know from one day to the next which it will be.

I've only had one migrane, and I NEVER want to have another. My sympathies, Silve. And the "allergy" to fast food isn't necessarily a bad thing, all things considered. You'll avoid all the bad stuff they bring!

Sympathy to you guys (I know all about the arthritis btw KD - it's catching up with me too🙁)
I have the allergies as well - mainly hay fever in the Summer but there are a few others that crop up from time to time. The main problem that I have is with my back - an ongoing slipped disc nuisance.

Odd that you should only have had one migraine KD - exactly the same here. I had just the one when I was preparing for my finals at college and it was an experience I never want to repeat.

I have headaches nearly every day since I was around 14, and only had a few occasions when I don't have one. They come in all strenghts, small dull pain that I have learned to live with and ignore. Then the really bad ones come and of course the migranes. I call them my Cordy visions, I get the pain but no vision. I've been told by those with me that my head jerks back when I get the flash migranes, they come and go in under a minute.

I also have the migranes which make me scream out in pain it hurts that much, but I have medication for them. I'm sensitive to light so I don't use any bright schemes on the boards, and have to wear a baseball cap in supermarkets its too bright.

And adding to that I have sciatica, which I got from years of falling during my fits. I bent over the sink once and it set it off again. I will never take something so simple like walking for granted again. I was laid up for weeks because I couldn't walk, and when you have it, it doesn't matter if you sit, stand or lie down it still hurts. Luckily I don't suffer from it constantly but once you get it you will always have it, its just a matter of something setting it off.

I have had acupuncture for my migranes, which help, and I have the most amazing chiropracter for my back.

I sympathize with you on the headaches. I can't imagine one that won't go away, but acupuncture and needles ...brrrrrrr. It's good that you can get some relief with them and chiro.

Mrs. D gets the sciatica every once in a while. Thankfully once in a long while.

I used to have a fear of needles, I still don't like them but I have to put up with them thanks to routine blood checks. Although my worst was when I was in hosptial at NY, I even tried to tell the nurse that I was feeling fine and could go, all to escape a second shot. Sadly my acting skills were not up to much.

Tell Mrs D that if her sciatica comes back, or for any back pain, to use Tiger Balm, I can't get enough of the stuff.

Oh yeah, we've got vats of the stuff. It's what gets me through hockey season!😉

EDIT: Oh yeah, and beer too.

Sciatica was the first sign that I had that I had a problem with my disc...not that I want to worry anyone...

Faith - it sounds like your headaches are similar to my back pain. If you measure pain levels from nought to ten (nought being no pain), I haven't had a day below three or four in years...I did try a chiropractor (after initially being sceptical about them) but it only seemed to provide temporary relief - which I was getting anyway from the anti-inflammatory drugs...

Well the chiropracter never really fixed mine as i'll always have it, she just manipulated my spine so that I could move and do things to strengthen my spine for my self. Swimming is really good for it.

I, like Faith, have chronic headaches. Pretty much every single day. Sometimes they're just dull annoyances. Sometimes...they are so bad, there is an actual swelling on my head at the pain point. Especially right over my right eyebrow.

But I've learned to live with them.

I also have serious allergies for which I must take an anti-histamine every single day, even in minus 30 degree winter weather.

Aren't we an unhealthy lot, eh? 🙂 Nobody tells you about all this when you're 10 or 11, do they? Then again, even if they did most of us would've ignored it - I know I would - I still do things that I know are bad for me and I'm in my forties 🙂

So once we are done discussing our ill health, is it then time for a cup of tea before moving onto something like 'it wasn't like this in my day' 😉

Nah! A stiff shot of hooch and a snarl "Bring it on!" will get us through! Age and determination beats youth and vigor every time!😉
