Angel Network Goes Dark

Uberproducer John Wells (The West Wing, ER) is developing a new version of the 1960s vampire soap opera Dark Shadows for The WB, network officials announced. But WB honcho Jordan Levin told reporters that he doesn't believe the supernatural series will conflict with The WB's other vampire show, Angel. "I don't think the two shows will be competing against one another," Levin said at the network's winter press tour in Hollywood.

Levin added, "We haven't seen Dark Shadows yet. What was interesting about that is that anytime John Wells walks in the door and says he's excited about wanting to do something differently"”in this case, a gothic soap opera, you know, based on Dark Shadows"”I think that's something you're obviously going to pay attention to. I think that two shows could co-exist. One is an action-adventure franchise, and one is a very gothic soap opera franchise."

Angel co-creator Joss Whedon, meanwhile, expressed surprise when informed that another bloodsucker series was in the frog network's docket. "I was not aware of that," he said, with typical tongue in cheek. "I quit." He added seriously, "You know, clearly, I'm the 97th guy to use the vampire metaphor to tell stories. I have no problem with there being a 98th. ... But at least it's not an important, successful producer."

I think it has already been posted, I dont see it as being much comepetition for Angel since it doesnt go up agianst Angel int he time slots, and Angel wont lose any viewers over it.

I think I've posted something about it,...or I've read it,..😕...I don't remember,..I think Primal Slayer is right,Angel fans won't stop watching the show becausse of Dark Shadows,...anyway,a gothic soap opera?,how not-better-than-Angel is that?!

I didn't think it would either, I just saw this and though people may want to know, I looked pretty far back and didn't see it posted, but maybe you have posted something about it already.

I'm sure not going to watch it... lol... I think this other show is just trying to lift on the popularity goth has these days... lame!

Angel faces competition with Enterprise

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - UPN has always said that "The Mullets" went on hiatus when it was yanked from the schedule in October, but most observers assumed the show was dead.

And we all know what happens when you assume: "The Mullets" comes back.

The business-in-front, party-in-back sitcom will return to the air on Wednesday, March 10. It will air at 8:30 p.m. ET, following the premiere of UPN's computer-animated series "Game Over" at 8. "Star Trek: Enterprise" is moving back an hour to 9 p.m

"Enterprise's" move to 9 p.m. -- one of primetime's most competitive hours -- solves a minor dilemma for the network. UPN is currently airing repeats of "America's Next Top Model" in the timeslot, but the reality series will have ended its season by early March.

The schedule shuffle also appears to bury freshman sci-fi series "Jake 2.0" a little deeper. It was pulled for the "Top Model" repeats earlier this month, and production recently shut down.

Of course, "The Mullets" was in a similar situation last fall, and look what happened.

This won't happen until March, but Angel is so much better than Enterprise!

Enterprise is the latest Star Trek series, Magui. It was pretty good at first, but about a year ago, it started to suck.

slayerpower: There is a new series of StarTrek being made. One where they go back to the early days.

Isn't enterprise with Picard? I mean that show has a far larger fan base then Angel 🙁

it was bad enough at 8 on wednesday let alone at 8 where they have to face West Wing, The OC, King of Queens, and I think the Bachelorette is also on.

The current Star Trek show that's on, Allycat, is set in the old days. It stars Scott Bakula as Captain Archer. And there have been lots of ships named Enterprise. The title of the show is Star Trek: Enterprise.

Right... I didn't know that Enterprise is the latest Star Trek series. I've seen too many shows with extraterrestrials, so they kinda look the same to me...

No competition here. Star Trek may have had a large fan base, but so does the Buffyverse and unlike Star Trek, Angel has Joss.

The Trek franchise should've been retired after Captain Kirk was killed off. But then, UPN would have to put on something that's mildly entertaining and worthwhile in its place, so it's a kinda Catch-22 situation for them. 😉

Star Trek: Enterprise is pretty much in the same boat as Angel. Ratings sucked so they revamped the 3rd season. Considering its part of the Trek franchise it isn't doing well. So far Enterprise has gotten its ass kicked by Smallville. Hopefully it being moved won't effect Angel much.

Enterprise is so lame that even a long time Trek fan like myself won't watch it. I think the real danger for Angel is the O.C. The O.C. is extremely hot right now with the demographic that the networks are always looking for. It's a tough time slot but NOT because of Enterprise. All I can say is thank God Smallville is the lead in for Angel. Remember last years lead in ? Nuff said.
