Actually I did run Adaware. Also Spybot. Spyware can often be responsible for conflicts and strange behaviour on one's machine.

I haven't tried Microsoftsofts Spyware protection. It's just a personal quirk. My opinion is - Microsoft phooey.

DDM: There's a website called spywareinfo.com. If you go there and click on the tools tab, you will find a selection of tools they recommend to keep your machine clean and safe. Some are free. Some are not.
 
spybot! that's it, I have ad aware and spy bot on my lappy and it seems to keep it happy
 
Anyone have the Yahoo tool bar it's pretty hand, It has Anti-Spyware and a pop up blocker!
