Just wondering what everyone else does with their machines at night, do you leave it on all night or turn it off?

Me I voted yes, the only time my computer is off is when the power goes out. 🙂

Turn it off as its in my room and a constant hum doesn't bode well for trying to sleep. Plus mine powers up quickly.

I usually turn it off...usually because it crashes so I unplug it

Yeah, this is what I do too cos my boyfriend can't even abide a ticking clock let alone a humming puter. I don't mind the sound - but what you gonna do? It boots up pretty quickly anyway! 🙂

I usually keep mine on when i know my dad isn't gonna be home but when i know he is comming off the road for a few days to see us and do stuff like that i turn it off every nite that he is here lol..

Turn it off coz it's really near my bed and I just can't stand that noise-my PC's pretty old and crappy so no way..But turning it on is the 1st thing I do after waking up🙂

I hate waiting for it to boot but my compy is such crap that I couldn't leave it on all the time or it would crash on me.

Even though it is better for your computer to leave it on. (Turning it on and off really hurts it) I turn it up. The bill. Parents would kill me.

I am a bad person and waste electricity. I leave it on, even though it is not in my room. I wish it were, though, because I cannot sleep without noise, and then I might not have to run a fan all night. It gets so cold in the winter. ::sm::

I turn it off - even in standby or sleep mode it's still using power...environmentalist or cheapskate?

i have to shut it off, lately my moniter has been really hot, and sometimes it cracks and smells like it's on fire 🙁 i dunno what to do anymore..so i like to give it a break at night ::nono::

Off, and unplugged from the phone jack. Mrs. D does some work at home that cannot be divulged to the public (I'm not kidding) and we can't afford to have a hacker get in...let alone tech concerns...see "...like magic" if interested!

I voted "no preference".

I turn it off at night, but that's only because my parents want me to, if't weren't for them I'd turn it off. I don't mind the booting, but there's no better time of the day to download (legal!) things, then at night, 'cause you're not using the computer yourself, it doesn't matter that the d/loading takes up CPU and bandwidth.
