Connecting Buffy to real life--Is this kind of like Buffy and Spike without the sex?

I have a friend who I've known for a while now, and to say the least, on paper we shouldn't be friends. I'm a pretty straight and narrow guy (I'd like to be a cop one day) while what he does is...less than legal. Come to think of it, he's kind of a jerk. Really a jerk actually (although he's nice to me, usually lol). The friends we hang out with, everything just screams that we're polar opposites.

The thing is, the last year and a half has been the worst of my life. Everything has gone wrong, and he's been pretty much my only friend. I've got great sisters and a brother, but I don't know, I just don't connect with them. When I think about it, I can't think about why I'm friends with this guy. For whatever reason though, I'm closer with him than I am with my family, the people I feel like I SHOULD be close with.

I should say that this isn't sexual at all. We're friends, and I've always been into girls. But my brother mentioned this to me the other day after we all took one of those "which character are you" quizzes from BTVS and I landed as Buffy while my friend got Spike. In the most non-sexual way, it actually made sense to me, even though I know it's not a good thing. It did kind of sound like Buffy and Spike though.

What do you guys think? Sorry about the random, I didn't really know where to post.

Unless he's completely obsessed with you I wouldn't say it's exactly like the Buffy/Spike relationship 😛

Just someone who has been there for you during tough times, the way every friend should be.

Have you recently been ripped out of heaven? That might explain why you're so down. 😉 No, from what you've said, your friendship with him has nothing in common to the Buffy and Spike relationship. You guys are just really good friends, that's all. Spuffy was a million times more complicated, with the violence, and the self hatred, and the using....so don't worry. 🙂

No, he's not obsessed (I hope anyways). It's more just that we see each other every day and no one else in my family likes him (at all). I'm always a little conscious of it when we hang out because they always make me feel kinda guilty about it.

And I was just speaking generally, we argue, but there's no violence.

Oh my gosh, I totally understand what you're going through.

I have a friend who I've known for about 6 years. She's always had a crush on me even though I have absolutely no feelings towards her like that at all. Although she denies the feelings, she's still pretty obsessive towards me. She gets mad when I have plans with other friends instead of her, she calls me all the time, she stalks my Facebook/Twitter/ and other social pages all the time. She's always asking what I'm doing or who I'm hanging out with, etc. We get in fights every single day because she just gets on my nerves so much.

And at the same time, I put up with it. Even though she drives me crazy, and I can't stand her for about 90% of the time, I can totally see myself being Buffy and her being Spike in a non-sexual way (although she's pretty obsessive towards me like Spike was to Buffy). I sort of use her as a back-up when I have no one else to hang out with and I'm really bored one day. I know it's probably wrong that I'm not really a good friend towards her. But she doesn't really have any other friends besides me, so I put up with her because I feel bad for her.
