Connor coming back in this season.

What's the general idea, are we glad it happened?
Or should Angel watching him have dinner with his new family at the end of season four been the end of the Connor story?
Also, if you think he should've come back, should he have received his old memories, or stayed thinking that other family were his real family?

Personally, I'm really glad he came back. I'm probably pretty biased because I always loved his character, but I do have real reasons!

I think that it was already stretching it to make him suddenly be a teenager, plot-wise. (Cordelia even says "Tell me we're not living in a soup opera")
But it would've been a terrible ending for the character to just join a new family, and not remember his Angel times, and no one (almost) remembers him either.
It would seem (to me) like they just tried out the whole Angel-having-a-son thing for a while, and then changed their minds, and so basically eliminated him from the plot.
I know 'saving' Connor was the deal Angel made with WR&H that caused them all to end up working there, and so it was important to the plot, because Angel didn't care about anything more than Connor. But I was really glad that he got to share the knowledge of their memories with Connor in the last Ep. and also that Connor came back in general.
Because even though I know a lot of fans didn't really like him, he was pretty important in terms of story arcs for a good two seasons, and it would've have felt right for him to just disapear.

Anyway, I think I've babbled enough! Lol.
What does everyone else think?
 
Connor constantly annoyed me in Season 4 so I was glad to see him off the show. However, season 5 redeemed Connor in that since he believed he had been with this new family forever Connor was much calmer and sane. So when Connor returned in form to assist Angel against Hamilton I was glad to see him. Connor turns up in the comic book series "Angel: After the Fall". Pretty good book so far.
 
I think that Connor would have a definite place in Season 6. My only real objection, or more what I consider an editor's mistake, is Connor calling his father "Angel." Even when he hated him, Connor always referred to Angel as "Dad."
 
Hm, Dawn just appeared out of nowhere into everyone's memories, and Connor just disappeared. The scores are even, lol.
I don't really like Connor (mainly because I blame him for the lack of Cangel in season4). But, to be fair, I've only watched season 5 of Angel up to 'You're Welcome' so maybe he did get better. However, there were a lot of characters I would have liked to see in season5, so I'm asking myself why no one brought them back. The Connor storyline was ended.
 
I liked Connor's return.

I didn't like Connor. He annoyed me. I didn't like the SORASing (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome) stunt they pulled on him, either. Still, I felt like I'd been cheated out of something when we never really got the chance to see Connor react to his freak-out with the bomb and the hostages thing. I thought that New!Connor, once he got his memories back, was way too eerily calm and collected. I actually thought that should have received a Wesleyan (hah!) bit of character growth.

I was glad to see him back. I was glad to see Angel and Co. deal with Angel's betrayal and the reason behind it. Ultimately, I feel like the fact that the show only ran 5 seasons made us miss out on a lot of character growth and interaction that we should have seen in Connor. I would have liked to have seen more interaction with Uncle Spike, for example. I think those two would have had a lot in common and that Spike may have had some valuable insight for Sire-hating Connor. I would have liked to have seen more interaction between Connor and Cordy, too, (real Cordy, not Pod Person Cordy) especially after Connor killed Jasmine. For as present and annoying as his character was, I really feel that he was kind of underused.




Coincidentally, I just heard the song "Mama Sed" by Puscifier. It reminds me of either Angel and Connor or Angel and Spike.
 
Connor always annoyed me. A lot. It was a character so easily influenced and that tends to eally grate my cheese. And I mean I know there's always the reasoning/excuse of 'he was raised in a Hell dimension by some wacked out guy from the 1800s or whenever for crying out loud', but the character annoyed me so much I really didn't care.

I think there's always going to be one character in a series that you just don't like and Connor was it for me. I hated when he believed the set-up Holtz had done (When he got....was it Julie?...to stab him in the neck with a BBQ fork or whatever it was) and then did the whole pushing-Angel-into-the-sea thing. And I think what really put me off him forever and ever and ever was him comshucking with Cordelia. I mean could that get ickier? And I know it was Jasmine orchestrating the whole thing but still- ew! And the way he was about it all annoyed me even more. Proud that he had slept (and impregnated!) a woman who not only was his Father's potential love interest but had also been like a Mother to him when he was a baby. Like Angelus says 'Tried to kill your Dad and slept with your Mom, yeesh'.

I think the only time Connor didn't annoy me was when he was a baby. Then he was just cute.

However when he returned in season 5....I liked him. The way the character had changed due to his altered memories made him so much more likeable for me. Despite being raised by a different family in this 'reality' he seemed to be so much more like Angel (only without the brooding) and he was very light-hearted and fun. If he had been like that from the start (Though I know that storyline wise that's impossible) I would have definitely liked him. And I love in the season 5 finale where Angel is basically getting his ass kicked and Connor turns up to help doing the cool-Angel-timing thing. It's the first time they are a good, healthy kick-ass, father-son team.

So yes I did love the fact that Connor came back in season 5 as it allowed him to finish the show on a good note and in a likeable place, hehe.
 
I always loved Connor. Even when he was being manipulated and annoying, I still felt for him. Plus I knew his character had to be going somewhere positive eventually.
So yep I enjoyed him returning in season 5, one of my favourite episodes. Also
enjoying him so far in After the Fall. He doesn't jump to blame Angel for everything like he used to.
 
Connor's return in season five was not only good but necessary. We get to see new Connor - this nice, well bought up, well adjusted young man who has a sense of humour and who rolls with the punches. he is everything the Old Connor was not. So he sort of afirms Angel's decision to give him up. Connor is better for it. But Connor, the new life and the memory wipe are also the things that keep Angel tied to Wolfram and Hart. Lindsey told him in the previous episode that he was working for the bad guys, that he was deliberetly being kept 'busy' to distract him from the real fight but as long as Connor is happy and healthy with no memories of his previous existence then Angel will stay working at the firm. So it was very important that Connor get his memories back - not only did it allow him to defeat Sahjahn, but it also meant that Angel was no longer bound to the firm and could begin planning his escape.
 
i have mixed feelings towards connor, sometimes i think he's an annoying little brat who needs a good beating, and speaking of beatings (i know this is a bit off topic but hey) in the episode in season 4 where they all lose their memories of adulthood Angel goes back to being Liam and connor is still himself yet Liam still manages to beat Connor when they fight so why could Angel not kill sahjhan? all Connor did was chop his head off, not that hard. i thought that fight was hyped up way too much.
Anyway, sometimes i liked Connor's character and other times i thought he was too childish, acting like a spoilt kid. I liked him in season 5 though i was glad he wasn't in the majority of it
 
I liked Connor MOST of the time. I just think not enough time was given to fully develop his character. But bringing him back to help out Angel against Hamilton was a stroke of genius, I think it acts as the final affirmation that Angel's decisions thus far had been mostly the right ones, something that even the other Team Angel members began to doubt. I loved his interaction with Faith in Season Four too, Cordy (albeit possessed Cordy) mentions Connor definately being Angel's son because he has a thing for Slayers, funny little moment!
