I didn't see this discussed anywhere else but I may have overlapped it so please inform if I have and I'll take down.

I have a question, who here besides me thinks the whoel Cordy/Connor thing is way icky. I mean Cordy was with Angel then hooks up with his son so gross.
Please share your thoughts here!

Believe me, the grossness that is Connelia has been discussed on many an occasion. And yes, most of us think its pretty icky and incestuous.

My question is -- was it really Cordelia? I'm still a little confused on the whole free will and choice thing vs. Jasmine and the PTB.

Skip said that every little action had led to the birth of Jasmine and that the PTB slightly pushed everything in that favor, right? So, that infers that everything ever -- done by Cordelia or otherwise -- has been influenced by this push. But what exactly was the catalyst of Jasmine overtaking Cordelia? I mean, when Cordelia becomes pregnant, that's when we see the most change in her personality and Jasmine controlling her, manipulating Connor and taking him further under his wing.

So what I'm saying is: Cordelia having sex with Connor just seems so out of character. Was that entirely PTB's doing or Cordy's free will? Is there really a difference?

Sorry this is so jumbled! I watched the end of S4 this week and it's still fresh in my mind... but I haven't been able to make sense of it fully.

Even this die hard Connor fan is squicked by the thought of him doing the nasty with Cordelia.

As far as it really being Cordelia, I think there was a theory running around somewhere that the real Cordelia disappeared at the end of 'Spin the Bottle' when Lorne apparently restored her memory. According to some, instead of restoring the real Cordelia, Lorne awoke Jasmine, who needed the spell to fully take over Cordelia's body, in order to conceive and give birth to herself.

You know, the more I talk about S4, the less sense it makes, lol.

I forgot about that. I remember it being explained somewhere during S4 that the restoring spell awoke Jasmine, and the reason that Cordelia had amnesia upon returning to earth was to keep her body and mind free of anything "catching a ride" down from the higher place. When the amnesia was reversed, Jasmine's essence was released I guess.

I think the reason there was no thread about them because it's too icky to talk or think about. 😛

At first, I watched only Faith episodes on Angel so I didn't feel bad when Connor was with Cordy from Salvage to Orpheus. I knew Connor is Angel's son and he is younger than her. But I didn't mind because Joss sometimes create something that you didn't expect or something you might not approve.

But, when I watched the whole seasons of Angel for the first time. After I saw sweet Cangel scenes and the moment when they took care baby Connor together in S3, I felt very disgusted when Connelia happened. I always skip their scenes together even they just talk.

I don't want to know if it's real Cordy or not, but I choose to believe that it's not her.

I thought it was hilarious that in one episode during the whole Connelia ordeal, Cordelia mentions to Angel something like, "He's eighteen, what do you expect?" about how messy Connor's room is (or something.) Good to know he's eighteen and legal, thanks.

I literally lost respect for Joss + co. on this. It was the most disgusting plot I have ever seen on public television.

The only saving grace was knowing that Cordelia wasn't actually the one doing it, and Charisma Carpenter had stated many times she was disgusted while shooting it. 😛

Thanx for all the commenst guys. I haven't actually seen all of Angel episodes. I knew Angle and Cordy were together that's why the whole Connelia thing realy just creeped me out, I litteraly cannot watch those two together. I have to skip over them or just do something and not pay attention. I did however not know the whole Jasmine/Cordy thing. There's alot I still have to catch up on. Whether Cordy was realy Jasmine or not doesn't affect my opinion. The whole Cornnelia thing is something I totaly don't go for and I believe shoulda never been put in the show it was beyond creepy and just turned me off off Cordy a bit and I use to realy like her character. I don't know I guess I will never be use to or understand why Joss did the whole Cornnelia thing.

Happy Birthday karma. Have a good one. :)
The whole Connelia thing was what caused me to stop watching the show so many years ago. I only just recently finished the show out and even though I'm very glad I did, so I wasn't confused anymore about certain topics, I'm still just as weirded/grossed out by Connor and Cordelia sleeping together. I don't care if it was really Cordelia or if it was Jasmine; it was NAST-Y.

I may... hrrrrrkh.... hrrrrkh... noooo OK I'm not gonna throw up good.

Yes, it was easily the biggest mistake of the entire 5 seasons of Angel (and 7 seasons of Buffy) made by Mutant Enemy. So Oedipally gross.... so gross.... ugh.... hrrrrrkh.... no I'm OK.

I'm going to go cry again now.

I think I may be only one that didn't find it utterly nasty or disgusting. A little weird, definitely... but even though she a part of raising him (along with the others,) Cordy isn't Connor's mother. I think the reason I disliked them together so much was that is just seemed out of character to me, be it Jasmine's doings or not. Just so strange.

I can definitely see why people would have had a hard time watching it the first time-- not knowing Cordy was possessed-- because it's so OOC and disgusting from her POV.

However, why do some people act like Connor should have refused at the time? He didn't see her as a mom. And when he does later get back the memories of being a baby he is properly grossed out.

And, on repeat viewing, you know she's possessed.

Despite that, I do agree that they never should have gone there. Or, if they absolutely had to, they should have made it clear to the audience that it wasn't the real Cordelia.
