Consequences - a question.

hi, i'm new here! i've been a fan of buffy since the day it aired. a b/a shipper for life, for that matter.

i have a question about the Consequences episode. by this time, the mayor is aware of the two slayers, obviously (i think he knew since the homecoming episode). when his deputy is killed, does he ever find out who exactly did it?

i'm just wondering because i wonder if that is why all of his hate is geared towards buffy. does he think she killed the deputy (allen)? i understand that faith began working for him on her own choice, but if he thought that she was the one that killed Allan (like, literally killed him herself. i know that he knew she was with buffy at the time), i doubt he would even let her in his door, since he was still reeling at Allan's death.

i know this is not making sense - lol. i am just curious. after all, faith is a slayer, murdered someone he 'cared' for, was friends with buffy (and therefore could have been playing him, for all he knew) and yet he accepted her without much thought. and i can bet that if the role had been reversed, if buffy was the one to approach him to work for him, he would have tried to kill her right on the spot. i wonder if this was because he thought she killed allan, or just that he could tell Faith was 'evil' right from the start.

I think there was something the Mayor liked, immediately, about Faith. There was obviously a very special connection between the two of them, and I think they both could feel it right away (when she showed up, knocking on his door). I don't think the Mayor believed that Buffy killed Allen. He knew that Faith killed Mr. Trick, and that didn't make him hate her so I can't see why killing Allen would. I'm not saying he didn't care about Allen (or Trick), I just think he was the only one who understood Faith, more or less, and knew that there was no reason to hate her for what she did.. Plus, Faith killing Allen, made the Mayor realize what Faith was capable of... and that she was good for him. And that having her on his team, by his side, was actually a much better thing, in every way..

I agree with that but also, you dont know what was said between Faith and the Mayor when he invited her into the office. He could have asked her then. But evil can generally see evil so I think he knew right away that something had changed!

Definitely... He could have.. All I'm saying is that I don't think Faith lied to him. Or that it mattered to him. At all. When the two of them became a team (or, okay, when Faith started working for the Mayor), I am pretty sure they left everything else behind, like nothing that had happened mattered anymore. Faith was totally changed and before that the Mayor would have wanted to kill Faith, and I'm pretty sure that didn't matter her, just like it didn't matter to him that she killed Allen.
(Plus, there's still the hey I killed the guys who worked for you so now I might work for you instead thing...)

The Mayor knew that the Deputy Mayor had been stabbed with a wooden object... so that obviously points to the slayers. He also saw the two of them in the city hall building (They were going through Allen's stuff)... so he had to have known.

The reason that he really took it out on Buffy is because what was said before. He feels injustice against Faith, he's her father figure, and he's going to do anything to protect her. He saw Buffy as a threat twoards Faith.
