Considered Spam?

I would like to ask a question concerning spam. If you post alot in a short space of time, is that considered spam? The reason I ask is because I have alot of spare time at college with nothing to do, so I spend alot of time on the boards posting, so am I likely to be banned if I post alot? Thanks.

I doubt that you'd be banned for posting a lot - more likely to be encouraged. From what I've seen, you don't seem to be posting spam as defined in the FAQ...

Spamming includes any post that is made solely to increase your post count "“ such as only posting smilies, one or two word posts, or posting a reply when one is not required (such as repeated "thank you" and "you're welcomes"). Please also refrain from double posting; use the 'edit post' button where needed. We want to hear what you think - spam posts add nothing to the discussion and make the real discussion difficult to follow.

If a problem was perceived you would be contacted by a staff member who would bring it to your attention...don't worry about being banned...carry on posting (as long as it's not spam🙂)

Nah, no worries. You won't get into trouble for posting a lot. As long as you post in the right places and your posts are relevant to the thread in question.

As Pointy said, if you are thought to be spamming then you will be contacted by one of us. It's never likely that we will ban you straight away for spamming. Most people aren't even aware that they are doing and everyone gets a second chance.

Also, are you familiar with the reputation or karma function of the board?

On the top right hand corner of a post you'll see a series of icons. If you run your cursor over them you'll see one that says "add to so and so's reputation". Click on that and you'll be able to add a little comment. It will also give the person karma points. He'll like you for it, or should.

If you feel the undeniable urge to add nothing concrete to the thread, but just add a spammy little comment like "Good one", or "LOL", just use the Karma function.

No problem Mango, I'll run you through it.

At the top right hand corner of this post from me to you there should be a #6 signifying the post number. Right next to that you'll see a couple of icons. Run your cursor over them one at a time without clicking. A little tag should pop up and tell you one of them is to add reputation. If you don't get the tag just click the one next to the number. That should be it.

A little screen will popup when you click. You'll be given the option to agree or disagree. Make sure it's on agree or you'll give me negative karma, and I'll have a sad face like this. 🙁

OK now type in a little comment telling me how wonderful I am, and click OK. 😀
