right i watched last nights episode damn it i forgot what its called but buffy is having this sppech to everyone after chloe hangs herself , and shes like your all weak blah blah blah , but one thing she said was " your all waiting for me " but they arnt they are waiting for faith ,, if buffy dies none of them will become a slayer, that will only happen when faith dies !!!

there have been LOTS of dicussion about this becuase Buffy says in one episode 'My death could very well make you the next Slayer' which, as you said, wont. Maybe Buffy is just preparing them or maybe Buffy herself doesnt know that her death wont activate a new slayer, this is just one of those things that you have to decide what it means for yourself.

i once got a theory that said that when buffy died the first time, kendra and faith became the real slayer but when buffy was resurrected she was re-inserted in the slayer line, i still think that's why the first is trying to wipe it out, it hasn't been fully explained yet... but i think it makes sense

I guess Buffy does know her death doesn't call out a new slayer (she died in the Gift and knows there isn't a new slayer).

However I don't know wether it would be very wise for her to tell the SITs that the deaht of an beserk, evil Slayer, that is now in jail for killing 2, could make them the next Slayer, would it?

In 'Get It Done' those men at the desert said 'Buffy will be the last guardian over the hellmouth'!!!

I found it quite interesting when the 'three wise men' said that.

However it could just mean the last guardian of that particular Hellmouth. If the Hellmouth is closed then it wouldn't need anymore guardians. So perhaps in the big finale of the whole show, we will be left with a Sunnydale no longer cursed by the Hellmouth.

I think thats a very interesting point, AH. So do you think that Sunnydale will then be no more dangerous than any other part of the world? And if the hellmouth is closed, do you think it will open up somewhere else?

I found what the three men said interesting but unclear. I was going to take it (until i read this thread) that by saying she would be the last guardian of the hellmouth that a)the first evil would succeed and the apocalypse would indeed be an apocalypse or that b)buffy and co. would succeed, thus perhaps getting rid of the first evil and therefore ALL supernatural evil forever (far-fetched but a possiblity) or that c)she would just be the last slayer, for whatever reason - perhaps that all other potentials would die or, for some reason, the slayer powers would cease to exist. Those were just some ideas i had. Its very interesting though.

I think when buffy says one of them will become a new slayer when she dies that she does not know that the slayer line goes through her, although i cannot explain the fact that when she dies S5, she obviously (i think?!) knew that another slayer was not called. Coz am i not right in that it was it not joss personally that made it clear that the slayer line was through faith now, and not the show itself that told us?

i thought it connected to the comic book Fray - wasn't she the first slayer for 500 years or something?? i've never read one so i'm not sure.......

I haven't either, but I know that's true!

Im sure this is an amazing point but ive kinda got lost... what is connected to 'Fray'? Sorry if im being a bit dim here! Lol, wouldnt be the 1st time!

🙂

Fray is a comic book series by Joss Whedon, that revolves around a Slayer, it's set like 500 years after Buffy. In her story Buffy was the last Slayer ... we don't really know what is ment by that.

But there will be some connections between this seasons story and the Fray story. Can you say
Scythe
?

in the wish after cordelia's wish was granted it was said that cleveland had a hellmouth - perhaps she will re-locate there at the end of season thus her not being guardian of that hellmouth!!!(sunnyD's hellmouth)

just a thought

The Mayor said in Season 3 that Buffys death would activate another slayer, buffy herself has said it many times. So maybe Joss is setting up for a spinoff, cos after all is said and done in sunnyD there could be another slayer walking about not knowing her calling?

That would contradict Fray though, although fray didnt mention buffy by name so it could have been talking about a different slayer (but i doubt it).

Oh and just so ya know in Fray she was a twin and her brother shared her slayer powers but niether of them were activated until after he was attacked by vamps and turned so she's the slayer and her brothers' like a slayer/vampire.

If i was Buffy, i would'nt go telling people that if they killed her they could inherit her power. I mean, if it was me i'd do her in, hoping that i'd become the new slayer, and thus have more chance of surviving the final showdown...
