So...because you don't know 20 year olds who act like Cordy...that means that they don't exist? I'd understand if you believed her transformation was unrealistic because of how quickly it happened, but to base it on her age, that's a bit unfair. I know some very mature teenagers. Actually, I know people who have taken care of themselves since they were about 12. Everyone is different. I mean honestly, the visions made her act like a 30 year old woman? Her behavior did not change that drastically in my opinion. Also, there are some insanely immature and irresponsible 30 year olds out there.

I mean come on. I feel like this is arguing semantics. I'm not saying 20 year olds who act older don't exist. I'm saying it's unrealistic that Cordy could be one of them. It was crazy to me to suggest that one moment she's the typical 18 year old in terms of maturity (because there is a typical level of maturity that is associated with age) and then next minute it's like she's aged 20 years (of maturity). So yes, my problem is with how quickly it moved, but also with the fact that there IS a typical level of maturity associated with age. "Act your age" doesn't exist for no reason.

I guess...I just believed it in her case. I did question it at first, but I sort of bought that the visions changed the way that she saw the world. I had a similar experience but...the change did not happen over night, like it seemed to in Cordy's case. But she was still kind of "tact-less" in season 2, so it made sense. I didn't feel like it was too drastic of a change. It was also pretty impossible for me to believe that Charisma was supposed to be a 20 year old. Maybe the fact that she looked like a 30 year old is impairing my judgment haha. What did she do, or how did she act that made her seem like she aged 20 years?

Damn, why aint this in the cemetary? Anyway, Cordy is a bully, she's hot and rich and this gives her the right to bully the lesser people, the thing that sums her up is when she says to Buffy ''im the slayer of dating'' omfg,wow. The slayer of dating! lmfao.

Whoa, this thread is intense. I didn't even realize.
First off though I have an issue with people saying "how can you hate Cordelia?" Why is this an issue? Because everybody has their own opinions. There is not a single character that everyone in the world likes. There will be at the VERY LEAST ten haters for each character. So saying that is a little narrow-minded. It is like me saying "how can you hate Fred?" or "how can you hate Spike?"
Anyway, now onto the real point. I did love Cordy in Buffy. She made me laugh, she even made me cry. I loved seeing her soft side, I loved seeing her develop, I loved seeing her feelings. I related to her even, a lot. I can be tactless that way too. I loved her character complexity. But it is at the end of Buffy, and part way through Angel where I start to dislike her.
I am agreeing with a lot of what [MENTION=10363]zobothehobo[/MENTION] and this is not because she is my best friend. I formed these opinions completely on my own after just watching the series and finishing a few weeks ago. Cordelia was suddenly this selfless, saint that pushed me to my limits of tolerance. She seriously was portrayed as a saint and was so completely mature. Suddenly seeming so...wise and she was talking to Angel as if she was his spirit guide or something. As if she was the one who had been alive for over 200 years.
It just drove me crazy. I'm not completely sure why. But for me it just wasn't a believeable piece of character development and I disliked what they had done with a character I once loved. It felt like she had gone. A lot of it appeared to have been decided to help the Cangel relationship develop. And that is something else I don't like...Cangel. Maybe I just don't ship Angel with anybody (except Nina, I actually liked that pairing a little.)
And now I have to address You're Welcome in it's own seperate paragraph. Everyone hyped this episode for me and I knew it was the one that Cordy came back in and I was a little nervous. I was right to be. The episode was good as a whole I guess and I liked Angel finding out that Cordelia was dead (not because I wanted her to die, but because it was touching in a way.) However, the way she talked to him just got a whole lot worse. It felt to me almost as if she was talking like she was his mother and it made the relationship feel off to me. I just didn't like it.
So, pre-Angel Cordelia is a win...not so much when she develops on Angel. Though I know many disagree. Discuss away. 🙂
