Cordelia haters...speak...

I know there's at least a few on this board...curious to hear from non-fans of the Queen C what they find undesirable about her. Please try to give details beyond something like "she was a bitch"...

In my experience, the two people I've met who were fans of the shows who despised Cordelia both had some serious "mean girl" issues in high school that I think they carried over into the show...

I'm inclined to agree with this statement with the exception of your blasphemous suggestion that people hate the Queen of America.

But I do know Cordelia has got some non-fans...I wanna hear justification! 😀
 
Well, obviously I don't hate or dislike her...

I just want to hear from those who do...

And don't underestimate the power of people to become invested in their TV...I think 'hate' can be incredibly appropriate...

Haha, no sniper rifle! I'm actually just genuinely curious...not looking to shoot anybody...really...probably...not today...

Then shouldn't you be posting in a sub forum that isn't dedicated to her? Just seems to me that if there were Cordelia "haters" around, it wouldn't be in her forum....just saying

Disagree. At least the more 'frequent' users of the Boards always go to 'New Posts', and, when you see a title of that and you hate Cordelia, I think you feel spoken to.

That's all I have to say about the topic, obviously I don't hate Cordy, she's my favourite character!
 
No way...I love Cordy....Especially "bitchy" Cordy, she was such a personality....fullstops....So...does anyone hate Cordelia?...fullstops...
 
I DID absolutely hate her in Buffy. When Xandelia was around I liked her a lot better, but there was some things she did that was just NOT cool. Her whole attitude just pissed me off every second she talked. My first run-through, she wasn't too bad, but the last 2, I almost literally wanted to hunt down Joss and tell him to kill Cordy. And, I was in no way sad when she went broke. I wanted to yell out, "KARMA!"

Now, AtS was a different story. In S1 she was ok. It still took me a while to get around to her though. She was really the same person she was in Buffy, but after she got the visions she definitely changed for the better.

In S2, she was a total badass. I started to really love her. After that, I totally warmed up to her. I'm still pissed that it was never really her in S4. As much as I love S4 and S5, Angel's just not the same without Cordy.

She still pisses me off in Buffy when I have a little run-through, but once Angel rolls around I fall in love... again.
 
I don't hate her I just prefer other characters for there story arcs and find them more relatable I guess. For me she was gimmicky on Buffy, let's make Cordy say something stupid or be a total bitch but throughout Angel she became a great character, I much prefered her in Angel.

I don't hate Cordy. I rather love her character. I just hate Cangel, for reasons already discussed in great detail...
 
Her character had a lot of growing up to do in BtVS. That is for sure. She was materialistic, snobby, and had a way of getting on my nerves very fast. She was exactly the way Buffy was in the original movie was until she became the Slayer and its why I didn't like her either at first. Once she started dating Xander, she was toned down some but still had her moments where she'd revert back to the person I disliked. Once they broke up she went back to her old ways until her family went broke. This made her seem more real as well ass likable.

She became this way during first season of Angel so I was happy she got Doyle's visions. She needed knocked down a peg or two. She did become sort of a badass but couldn't be compared to Buffy in the least.

I still prefer Buffy over her.
 
Her bitchiness in BTVS is what gave her a fanbase...and those of us who adored her for her BTVS personality were somewhat disappointed by the extent to which they morphed her into a saint on Angel. No character on BTVS (except MAYBE Anya) has the quoteability of Cordelia.

And I don't feel the character was gimmicky, per se...she was meant as a character foil to Buffy, and also as a reminder of what Buffy USED to be before she was called. Plus, you gotta have a brutally honest biotch somewhere in the mix. And if nothing else...admire the confidence. 😀

Speak on it!

I loved Cordelia since I saw her in the first episode of Buffy way back in the day. Mainly because she was hot. Now it's more than that though.
 
How can anybody hate Cordelia?

In S1 she was a bitch but I loved her for it! Then in S2 she started to be funny and I really felt sorry for her in S3 when Xander betrayed her. Then in Angel her character grew so much, it was like she was a totally differnt person! The only other character in Buffy that grew that much was Willow. I really liked Cordy when she was mean because she was cool. But in Angel she became one of my favorite characters because she suddenly was more than just the high school bitch. So much more.

I'd say that Spike developed more... :)
I always liked her. My favorite Cordelia moment was probably when she was shouting, "I'm not a sheep!"
