Cordelia themed Discussion

Considering we've just spent a week discussing Xander, let's discuss his fabulous counterpart, Cordelia Chase.

While Cordelia does not have a lot of episodes dedicated to her, she did do some growth over the three seasons on Buffy, mainly in season three.

Please watch and reflect on the following episodes:

1. Out of Sight, Out of Mind
2. Homecoming
3. The Wish

Also, please feel free to put in any other input from other deserving Cordelia performances. Ones that come to mind are: "The Wish" "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered", "Reptile Boy" and "The Prom"

i have only watched 'homecoming' so far. hm...one thing i can say about her is that she is a very stong character. there are many examples of this, but the one im thinking of is in 'homecoming' when she stands up to lyle gorch. she might not have been able to fight him, but she stands up to him like she can. she is not even a slayer like buffy, but lyle actually believes she is stonger and runs away. i guess all those years of working to climb up the social ladder paid off. she knows how to handle herself, and i think it is partly because of the being popular...that or it is what made her popular. also, cordy was part of the humor in the early seasons of the show. i liked that bit where she says there's a phone, but didnt realize it would be useful...eh, ill just post the scene. i cant explain things well 😛:

(Cordy finds a spatula and takes it over to Buffy)
BUFFY: That's it?
CORDY: Just this and a telephone.
BUFFY: A telephone. And you didn't think that'd be helpful?
CORDY: No, this is better for...(She swings it a few times to emphasize that you could hit someone with it, then realizes...) Oh.

That is funny.

I do agree, that her standing up to Gorch in "Homecoming" really showed who she bacame later on Angel. Strong.

Let's see... I don't think I've seen "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" yet, so I'll just focus on Homecoming and The Wish.

Homecoming was (as I've said to almost every Buffy episode) in my mind, one of the best of season 3. It is definetly one of my many favorites. You can never have too many favorite Buffy/Angel episodes. I didn't like Cordy much until this episode, actually, I didn't know much of her at all, since I watched the seasons out of order (s3 first, then s6, s7, s1, s4, s2, and s5 last). But this really made me appreciate her character more. She was really funny and pretty brave (I guess) in this episode.

The Wish was also a really good season 3 episode. Yeah, Cordelia made a mistake, but hey, everybody makes mistakes. She also had some funny quotes in this eppy.

Cordelia: No. No! No way! I wish us into Bizarro Land, and you guys are
still together?! I cannot win!

And the one at the very end of the episode...

Cordelia: I wish Buffy Summers had never come to Sunnydale.
Anya: Done.
(She is taken aback when nothing happens, not yet quite aware that she is
no longer immortal.)
Cordelia: That would be cool! No, wait. I wish Buffy Summers had never
been born.
Anya: Done!
Cordelia: And I wish that Xander Harris never again knows the touch of
a woman. (smiles, starts to walk away) *And* that Willow wakes up
tomorrow covered in monkey hair.
Anya: Done!
Cordelia: In fact, I wish all men except maybe the dumb and the really
agreeable kind would disappear off the face of the earth. That would be *so*
cool! Or maybe...
