I was wondering why Cordelia was always (well in some episodes) hanging out with the Scoobies after her and Xander broke up?
 
Because she became a part of them. She didn't wanted to say that, be she loved hanging out with them, even if she called them loosers most of the time. And she didn't had a lot of choice, we saw in The Wish Harmony wasn't that friendly to her. And also, what Billy said 🙂

She couldn't return to her ususal clique, and she didn't want to be alone (although from what I remember she didn't hang out with them exclusively, I think she hung out with a few others), even tough being with them must have constantly reminded her of Xander's betrayal. As she said in Out Of Mind, Out Of Sight:

CORDELIA: Hey! You think I'm never lonely because I'm so cute and popular? I can be surrounded by people and be completely alone. It's not like any of them really know me. I don't even know if they like me half the time. People just want to be in a popular zone. Sometimes when I talk, everyone's so busy agreeing with me, they don't hear a word I say.

BUFFY: Well, if you feel so alone, then why do you work so hard at being popular?

CORDELIA: Well, it beats being alone all by yourself.

From that quote I get that she might prefer hanging out with people she dislike, rather than being on her own.

I think she also felt like she had a purpose when fighting evil, which gave her another reasons for being around the others. Maybe, in season 3, she had started to believe in karma, and felt she needed to fight evil. In Room With A View (Angel season 1, when she moves into her haunted place) she talks about how she has to pay for how she acted in high school. Maybe she felt the weight of her actions in season 3 too, and thought that she only had a few months to shape up and start being nice? It's a stretch, but possible.

Besides, if she's not around Xander, how else could she try to hurt him?

Agree. I think she never had a crush on Wesley. He was this new guy and she just wanted to hurt Xander.

Cordelia didn't hang out with them after she broke up with Xander. She only went to them when it was convenient for her or when she wanted to make fun of them. She didn't start attending the Scoobie Meetings and helping with the fight against evil again until Wesley showed up. She had a crush on him so she was probably trying to spend more time with him.
