Cordelias familys lose everything to IRS

They touch on it in the back nine of S3 and in the beginnings of S1 of Angel, but they never really go into detail. I don't really know if it's entirely fair to say that the IRS (I don't think the FBI were involved...) really "screwed over" Cordelia's family. Cordy herself says that her parents didn't pay their taxes like, ever.

I mean, you just can't do that.
 
In "The Prom" 3ABB20, Xander finds Cordelia working at a clothing store to make enough money for her prom dress. Xander pays it off and she thanks him for it in such a way that only he knows what she is thanking him for:

Xander: Cordelia! Wesley! My god in heaven, it's good to see you. How are you both? And details, please.
Wesley: Very well, thank you.
Cordelia: Yes, thank you. (emphasis with eyebrows)
Xander: It looks good on you.
Cordelia: Well, duh.

Xander gives a subtle smile and nod and the couples part.
