Cordelia's first?

Mabye but I dont think so, I remember that scene in Bad Eggs when they are in sex ed or something and Cordelia starts carring on about sex in the car and how somebody, NOT her, kicked the gear shift, lol. So it was implied that she had sex before and he wasnt her first.

^ Hehe. I don't remember that. Sounds funny, though. I'll have to give that episode another go.

I am also of the opinion that teen Cordelia knew her way around the proverbial block. A recent rewatch of the AtS episode "Spin the Bottle" reminded me of one piece of evidence and brought up another. First off, upon viewing Angel for the first time post-spell, Cordy repeated her "Hello Salty Goodness" line from the first time she ever saw him. I will let you extract meaning as you see fit. Of course, it is possible that Cordy was using a colloquialism that she had merely overheard; however, the repetition of the line and the fact that the Buffyverse is seldom casual about dialogue or subtext leads me to believe that this is worth at least a mention. Better evidence comes from the "big reward" that she offers Connor, followed by an enthusiastic "Whoo Doggie" in response to his "You mean it?" Cordy spoke with confidence, implying that she knew how to provide the reward worth having. Spin the Bottle's blast from the Cordelia past certainly implied that teen Cordy was more experienced than we know the rest of the Scoobies to have been at that age.

Another thing to consider is how shocked Cordy was to find herself pregnant in "Expecting." When Angel questioned her about what had happened, Cordy replied that it had all been very normal. Although the characters are certainly discussing whether or not she had noticed anything demony about her date, Cordy's words and her actions once again lead me to believe that she had by that time amassed sufficient experience against which to gauge this abnormal experience and, finding nothing amiss, felt a great deal of disbelief. To Cordelia, everything about the date had seemed very normal and not demony in the least. It is implied therein that the sex part of the date was also very normal. It's a shame; if he was going to knock her up with some freaky Hellspawn, the guy could have at least tried to turn in an above average performance. How rude!

Finally, I've gotta say that I like the fact that we don't know about Cordy's first time. It wasn't part of the story, so we didn't see it. That's part of what kept the show from being another 90210 or Dawson's Creek. It's not *just* about hooking up and breaking up. We saw Buffy's first time because it was part of a larger story leading to an awesome Big Bad. We saw Willow's because it signaled the resolution of the Xander/Willow/Oz triangle. We saw Xander's because it was a (more like "the") Xander episode and, also, because it shed light on Faith's character, especially a couple of episodes later when Xander tries to help Faith and she attacks him. But the show isn't about sex, so there are a lot of characters and couples whose first sexual encounters are not addressed. If it ties into the larger story, then we'll see it. Otherwise, there's no need. I think that's a good thing; it means there is more than mere bed hopping going on in the Buffyverse.

I completely agree.
While I sort of see all the points palabra made, there is one question left: Why didn't Cordy sleep with Xander? From what I know, when you already have the sexual experience, you usually integrate that way faster into a new relationship than as a virgin. And they were dating for almost a year and never had sex once? That seems a little off.

About the 'Bad Eggs' scene. Couldn't it be Cordy was actually talking about a friend? I mean, come on, the Cordettes seemed like girls who talk about anything without tact and restrictions, so here I could actually imagine that she was in fact talking about a friend.
This also leads me to teen Cordelia in 'Spin the Bottle' who was just trying to get a guy to do what she wanted, without really knowing what she was promising (or knowing and not meaning it). Again, the Cordettes stroke me as a group that were just about the talk. And especially Cordelia, she may have dated and made out with a lot of guys, but I don't think it was ever anything serious. And remember the scene in Angel when Angel starts smelling her hair and she goes all "Personal Bubble!"? Imo this implies that she doesn't just let guys do anything they want. So in larger sense, she also doesn't just sleep with them because everyone does it. I can really imagine a teen Cordy standing up to a guy who wants to go 'too far'.

As for 'Expecting', you don't need to have sex to know what the 'normal' way of a love night is. Come on, you see it on TV etc. all the time. She could've used that as a measure.

Your right it could have been:)
For some reason, I always thought that Xander and Cordelia never having sex when they were dating was more his fault than hers. He had only "done it" that one time with Faith, who afterward literally tossed him out onto the street. Maybe he was afraid of losing Cordelia in the same way.

The Faith thing happened after he broke up with Cordelia. So unless Xander has this unknown power of premonition - I don't think so.

Oops. Me too... sheesh.
yeah i always thought it was because of xander being a virgin, not cordy. i always had this idea that she had some experience, if not a lot, by the first time we meet her. i feel like thats what the writers were trying to convey, anyway.

I suspect that she viewed her relationship with Xander as different, so if she wanted to take it slow and he was insecure, it would make sense that they never got around to having sex.

Bingo bango, I think that's it exactly.
In the Episode Phases, Cordelia tells Xander she brought him there to do things her father could never know about because he still thinks she's a good girl. A good girl is another term for virgin right? That's confirmation from Cordelia herself that she's been around the block..... and back.

Well back i high school my parents would have freaked out if I told them I was making out with a guy (let's say 2nd base) in a car and called me a bad girl...no sex necessary

I dunno, there are a lot of things a teenaged girl can do in her car with her boyfriend that would make her not a good girl that aren't necessarily sex.

I think Xander and Cordy didn't sleep together because I don't think actually initiating sex with Cordy would have ever occurred to the XanMan, as sex obsessed as he was. For a 16 year old guy, there's a big gulch of difference between wanting to nail your girlfriend and thinking it'll ever actually happen and taking steps toward making it happen. And I think Cordy was the type of chick who would have expected him to bring it up, so... nothing.

I always thought her first was the guy in Prophecy Girl, you know, in the car?

along these lines...sorry to hijack your thread Joan...but what about Buffy? In ?teachers pet? when Xander gets seduced by the mantis lady, buffys all shocked at Xanders virginity... something along the lines of "but youve done it before right?" implying quite obviously that she her self has "done it". Then later she says "Ive only been with 4...3 3 guys". Counting em up, Angel, Parker, Riley, Spike...thats 4, so she was a virgin up until Angel? Or not?

I think she was only surprised because Xander is a guy. Guys are expected to sleep around more than girls are for some reason.

She lost her virginity to Angel. The 4...uh..3 thing had to do with Spike...she didn't want anyone knowing she had slept with him.

4 would make her a virgin in teachers pet. I got the "4... er 3 reference"...as diabolical as it was.

well i know that obviously. But she implied she wasnt a virgin in S1, actually making fun of Xander. She should have said "its only been 5, uh 4 4". You see? Which actually sounds pretty slutty lol
