Cordelia's Just Desserts

I was watching snippets of Angel episodes and a thought occurred to me as
Cordeila goes through a ton of bullshit thrown her way. She has an amusing
observation while helping Wesley clean up. "You used to love me. You used
to think I was the most beautiful thing in the world. Now the only thing that
gets any attention are these books." She also admitted being the "ditziest
bitch in high school". I think that's why she is getting "her just desserts".
Because she is a bitch. Snotty, self-centered, self-serving. Trollop. I bet the
writers met every week and said "Let's see how we can stick it to the C
word this time." Just an observation. Any thoughts? :sun2:

I highly doubt that. Even though Cordy was a bitch in high school, she still helped save the world with the scoobies. She did a lot of good on Buffy even if at first she didn't want to.

After Cordy got the visions, and especially after TSILA, Cordy was not at all self-serving and self-centered. She was fighting the good fight and helping others in need. I think the writers needed to give her some hardships to show her journey from bitch to champion. It wouldn't make sense if just one day she woke up and was like "Today I'm going to change the way I am just for the hell of it".

Although Cordy had stopped being self-serving and self-centered, she became Saint Cordelia in S3 . . . and that was a mistake. There's nothing wrong in helping others. But it's another thing to do so to the detriment of one's own needs and development. Which is what happened to Cordelia. Even worse, she became arrogant in her own goodness . . . and revolved her life around Angel and his "mission". That really wasn't a good idea. And she paid the price for her decisions.

I think Cordy in season 1 shows her in her full nature.

She still had a bit of the old Cordy in her but she also evolved into a new caring Cordy. Def a bigger change then when she was on Buffy.

As for her just desserts she thought that maybe she wasn't being punished anymore when she moved into her new house in Rm w/a Vu.
