Cordelia's Parents

I could see Cordelia having the sort of home life where, despite the money and popularity it brings, she was actually ignored by her parents, who were too busy living their own "good life." Instead of giving her attention, they compensated by giving her more cash. I think it may have been interesting to have incorporated a storyline that that.
 
I have a theory. I think that maybe Cordelia's mum might've died. Some time in season 2 of Angel. Don't yell at me for this. But I think It's possible that, that could've happened. I know that no one knows what happened, an we'll probably never know. But that's just a theory I have!! Because Cordelia's mother was sick. And we never saw her father, because he was in jail, obviously!!!

In "Welcome to the Hellmouth" when she's wearing the light blue dress at the Bronze, before Jesse asks her to dance, she says something like "my mom's doctor thinks is Epstein Barr. Nobody has Epstein Barr anymore. At least it's chronic hepatitus or ....." not a direct quote but you get the drift.

It would have been nice to see her parents in BtVS season 1-3. But I don't mind them not being in Angel, at that point Cordelia was independent. If they did come back, it would be cool to see them in AtS season 3, maybe an episode where they tempt her to go back to Sunnydale or something like that
 
I always thought it was strange that she never talked about them. It's like when she moved to L.A. she just cut off contact with them.
 
I'm pretty sure what she said in Welcome to the Hellmouth was just supposed to make her seem shallow, here's the quote from the shooting script.

My mom doesn’t even get out of bed anymore. The doctor says it’s Epstein Barr, I’m like, “please, it’s chronic hepatitis or at least Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.” I mean nobody cool has Epstein Barr anymore.

I remember in Buffy S3 (Band Candy) Cordy mentioning her mom borrowing her clothes so she was surely still alive for that, but I'm curious as to why you think she died in Angel S2? As for her father, he might not have been in jail. It was never really clear what exactly happened.
 
I thought about this once... My theory is that the writers wanted them to be as absent in our eyes as they were in Cordelia's life. After all, once Cordelia left Sunnydale she never looked back. It leads me to believe that she didn't much of a family life.
 
Well she was so short in BTVS and i think that it would ruin my picture of crodelia while seeing her parents, because i created my own picture of them after season 1 and two. So it's better to don't to see how they would look like. Understood?

If anything I'd say she was spoiled rotten with attention and told that she was perfect and beautiful her whole life, which is true. She seems like she was doted on by her parents. Cordelia seemed like she was a very loved child.
 
I don't know if I'm reading into the Epstein-Barr line too much, but I really got the impression that that was quite important. "My mom doesn't even get out of bed anymore". That doesn't sound like she's bedridden. That sounds a whole lot more like she won't. Cordelia's treating it in a really shallow way, pretending it's just uncool, but with a dad that always works and a mum that doesn't get out of bed? I can totally see how Cordelia ended up desperate for attention and spoiled by parental guilt, rather than disinterest. Seeing the picture in Angel only made me believe it all the more.

Anyway, I just think it more interesting if Cordelia came from something slightly less shallow than the Queen C persona she embraces.

Also, I'm almost certain that I remember a throwaway line about M.E. somewhere, but I just can't place it. I may have been mixing it up with the Epstein-Barr one though.
