ILLYRIAN
Druish Pervonian Wizard
CORDELIA'S WISH BECAME ANYANKA'S DREAM.
"I wish Buffy Summers had never come to Sunnydale," exclaimed
Cordelia. "At last," thought Anyanka, starting to have her doubts
about the stupid girl. Anyanka, the Vengeance Demon turned to face
Cordelia, "DONE !"
The teacher had just completed doing the days register call, she was
starting to tell the class about the temporary classroom. The door
opened, in walked Buffy casting a disdainful look at the teacher.
"Oh good she is back, say hello to Buffy every-one. It is because of
her that you are now in a temporary classroom. The people re-doing
the gym have put all their tools and the supplies in the proper
classroom.
"So tell us all Buffy, what did the principal have to say to you. Tell
us what happened?" "Okay, when I left here I went to my locker, I
took a drink and something to eat then went and had a look at the
gym. When I felt like going to the principal's office I went. As it
was, the principal couldn't be bothered to see me, he let his
secretary tell me the good news." Buffy continued walking to her
desk. "Well? what did he say?" asked the teacher. Buffy gazed out
of the window, slowly turning her head to face the teacher, "For my
attempt at redecorating the gym I have to help the janitor for two
hours every-day for the rest of this year." "Well that is good, I was
hoping you wouldn't be expelled, it seems a lot of students liked
you, which is sad really, as all those students that liked you died in
the mayhem that you started."
The teacher smiled, "Now go to your desk, sit down, shut up and
listen." "Just so that you know the truth, I didn't start the mayhem,
I didn't do any damage to the gym, well not much of it any-way."
She took a few steps towards her desk. "No, she stated, "You can
take this lesson and shove it. The principal left me an order, a
directive! I have to do two hours janitorial work per day. As I was
told if I do the my penance in the morning, midday, or evening, that
is up to me. Guess what? I was given a letter, a signed letter from
the principal. Just in case you had forgotten there are quite a few
here who will remember last weeks lesson. You stated that morning
is from daylight to midday." Buffy smiled to her. "Who's stupid
lessons do you think I am going to miss this year?"
The teacher squirmed as Buffy grabbed her coat, her books then
went to leave the room. Looking to the other students, she saw they
were all attempting to hide their smiles. Buffy yanked the door open,
smiled to the teacher. "Do not slam the door," said the teacher.
Buffy pulled the door as hard as she could, stopping it just before it
slammed shut. She opened the door a bit "Okaay," she replied.
Waiting just long enough to hear a few laughs she gently closed the
door.
Wandering along the corridor she kept going until she faced the
door marked Janitors Closet. Opening the door she saw a set of
steps going down. Shrugging to herself she went down the steps to
the expected little closet, she was surprised to find the steps led to
the basement, looking about she noticed some-one sitting at a desk.
Going to him, "Buffy Summers, redecorator extraordinaire
reporting for cleaning duties as requested by the principal."
Looking up as she spoke, "Ah, miss Summers I presume."
Remembering her last history test, "Good job my name isn't
Livingstone." "Hmm? oh yes, very clever!" He looked to the file
on the desk, he said what he was writing, "Retains information," he
looked to her then continued, "Regardless how insignificant. Now
miss Summers, would you say you know your way about the
school? because I don't. I got this job last week, so today is my first
day. I did come here over the week-end, to get your room ready.
Now, I really do not like this type of work so we will do what has to
be done for half an hour each day, then we can do our stuff. Ok?"
"Okay, sounds good to me, what else are we going to do?" Buffy
put her coat over the back of a chair, "You have been told about me
by the principal, so you know who I am and what I am like, who are
you?" The janitor took his glasses off, gently rubbed the eye glass,
then put them back on. "I have read your file; of when you were
born, who you think your parents are." "What?" "I am talking miss
Summers, so you will wait until I have finished and just in case
you decide not to remember that." He opened a drawer and put a
loaded cross-bow on the table, pointed at her. Buffy stepped two
paces back. "What is that for?" "That is for my defence miss
Summers, you are much stronger than me." Suspicious of his
meaning, Buffy looked at him "Why did you say that?" He read
from a file, "Miss Buffy Anne Summers, the Chosen One, the
Vampire Slayer." He looked straight into her eyes. "The files I have
read about you were not given to me by this school nor from any-
one in this country. You may have heard the term Big Brother is
watching you, well I am one of those that Big Brother reports to, I
am a watcher, your watcher. My name is Mr Giles." Buffy was
surprised by him, "What? what are you here for?" asked Buffy.
"For one, I intend to teach you enough to help you reach your
twenty first birthday, alive and well." Knowing he meant it, she was
glad. She smiled, thinking that she could do with a friend. "So first
up, the basics, I need to know what you have been taught. Merrick
was set in his ways a bit, he may have left out a few details, so tell
me what you know."
Buffy walked around the room, "Cut their head off, stick a bit of
wood into their chest," she faced him, "That is through the heart, or
kick them into the sunlight. He taught me to fight and how to know
they are there." Giles grimaced, "So, nothing of any consequence.
Okay, right, start from the beginning. You, young miss, are a
vampire slayer, that is what you are called, what you are known as.
Yet you are a Demon Hunter first and foremost, you hunt and kill
all types of demons not just vampires and I will teach you how to
prepare your-self for a fight, to know what you are up against and if
needs be how to kill what you are up against." Buffy looked at him,
"You started last week? how did you kI'd be sent here?" Giles
smirked, "I have my sources. If you are good at your studies I will
say who and what they are, when you are ready."
"English are you?" asked Buffy. "Yes, as are many demons."
