Cordy wasn't a bad actress!

Okay, so I've been watching season one of "Angel" lately, and there are two instances where she acts well:
1. In "The Ring," where she pulls aside that couple to get their tickets, posing as a detective.
2. She convinces Angelus about the water in "Eternity."

I don't know. I mean, I guess she probably wouldn't be of much use to Angel Investigations if she were a good actress, but everyone always made a big deal about how she couldn't act (and how she obviously couldn't during some of her auditions), but I don't understand why she was able to be so persuasive. :x
 
What about that video of her doing those milk commericals in that episode where somewhat-soulless Angel gets back at Lindsey and Lilah during a big celebrity fundraiser. (I'm sorry, I don't pay attention to the episode titles.)
She was horrible in those.
 
I agree that she was kind of a good actress in some cases. Think about her alternate reality in season 3. That proved that she had some talent that could've been discovered before she met Angel.
 
She seems to be able to act when its serious. (convincing people of things and such) but when she's acting to be an actress (you know what i mean) she was trying to hard.

This is understandable. they're completely different situations. she may not have even been aware of doing it. something just changes in her when shes being filmed.
 
I'm guessing maybe she just didn't want it bad enough. I mean with AI she HAD to do it, cause it sometimes made the difference of life or death... but acting... well, it didn't really benefit anyone.
 
Well there's alot of competition in her feild of work. I would know from first hand experience.
 
Yeah i mean Cordy was horrible in front of the camera, but kinda like doing feild work and pretending to be someone else she was good at but infront of a camera she was aweful,
 
yeah, i just watched 'Eternity' and Cordelia shows both types of acting (in the play and with her "holy" water.) she even gives herself a pretend oscar 😛 so she knows that she can act sometimes.
 
lol yeah she is good sometimes, I think its in Parting Gifts when she has that audition for that washing powder or something and keeps crying cos of Doyle just dying.
 
It was really strange that she was sometimes a good actress and sometimes awful. In 'Eternity' she was a terrible actress in the play she is performing at the beginning, but then at the end, she is suddenly a good enough actress to fool Angelus at the end with the water. Then, in Judgement she is auditioning for something, and the director says she's on fire. Very strange. Maybe she improved?
 
I thought Birthday showed us Cordelia did have the potential to become a successful actress. Jasmine prevented it from happening by altering her destiny.

See, one was playing to a crowd, one was playing for her life.

In Judgement also, she improv'd that little scene from experience, again adds a different peformance.

ALSO there was obviously a certain amount of growing from Eternity to Judgement.
By the end of To Shanshu, Cordy had started on her new path, she had gained confidence, strength of character and a certain self power.
