Does anyone here cosplay?

I've seen some great ones at various conventions but never actually done it myself, this year though I hope to try it. For those that do, who have you done and how did you make the character, did you make all the outfit yourself or were you able to find pieces that went with the person?

Not for a convention, but I went to a Halloween party as Lorne once. Got a lot of friends in amateur theater, so the make up was pretty easy to do 😛

Think one of my Uni friends does something like that. Nothing as cool as Buffy stuff, but she seems to have talent for it none the less.

I have been cosplaying Lorne nonestop since December 2014. I ain't going to lie to you, I had my stuff made. The suit jackets are not jackets, they are heavy lined sequin winter coats which I didn't know until after I got them. I was ordering from a picture. They are imported from Russia and takes a month to get them because they are custom made. I thought they were cheap thin lame blazers. The shoes were imported from Japan because they don't make that exact same style of shoe here. Everything was imported, except for my pants, which I got from my closet. I styled the hair myself. I wear only mens clothes when I cosplay Lorne, even to the belt and shoes along with my FTM binder.

I have a surprisingly large amount of friends who cosplay but, sadly, I haven't done it myself yet but hopefully soon! One of my friends is training to be a costumer and she designed and sewed her costume herself from different fabrics she recently won with her take on a Pathfinder Aasimar assassin (I don't have the pictures on this computer 🙁 ).

My other friend chooses characters that are easier to simply find pieces for and piece them together from discount/goodwill stores - such as Captain Mal, Peter Parker, Sweeny Todd, The Doctor ... etc.

If you decide on a piece and need help with some makeup technique tips feel free to let me know - I'm by no means a professional but my theatre degree required I take some stage and special effects make up classes 🙂

I took two identical pics and edited them together with windows paint. I never use Photoshop.

Great pics of Lorne! I've never cosplayed before but I'm thinking about doing it for Supanova this year.

I'm going to do either Jayne Cobb or Willow. I have season 3 onwards Willow hair so that would be easy. Adam Baldwin is going to be at Supanova though and it would be great to get a pic with him while dressed as Jayne!

For years I've thought about going as Spike for Halloween, but for whatever reason I haven't yet. If there's one Joss Whedon character I could maybe pull off okay, it's Spike. All I need is a cool black leather trenchcoat, bleached hair done up right; I have most of the shirts and pants he typically wears already. Welp, maybe someday

Well I'm sure James Marsters is going to come back to Supanova some year in the near future because he is just that cool, and when he does I am planning on going as Drusilla or Faith and getting a cool photo with him 😛 Faith wouldn't be that hard and I'm whittling a stake for it but if I don't go broke I'll go as Drusilla. There are online stores where you can buy the vampire prosthetic to put on your face and all the stuff you need to put it on so I really want to try it 😀
