Cost of Living #8

I've spent more on vet bills this year than anything else! Both dogs had vaccination this week. And then, Poodle bit a spider yesterday. Two trips to the vet in one day for her, 3 needles in a week. Poor thing. And the other dog needs her teeth done. Still cheaper than getting my teeth done though!

I stupidly brought lunch at a servo today. I shouldn't have done that. I could have had free snacks with the congregation but my blood sugar was low and I wasn't thinking straight. So mad at myself for that. I have to be more careful and aware.
 
Got my taxes filed this week. I have to pay Federal but get a refund from the State but it's still $500 out of my pocket.🤬

Because nobody wants to WORK for free and there would be more that would try to take advantage of the system by not working at all.

Never had a chance 😂 I cant afford to upkeep a house on a pension anyway. I have learned that much!

Recharged my phone for the next year. Post box bill is due as well. All the bills at once! Winter will be quieter for me though, depending on petrol prices.
 
I need a dummies guide to selling, I get the listing, take photos part, but how do you know what the postage is going to be to charge accordingly?
 
You probably need a set of scales - you can get them designed specifically to weigh for postage but a decent set of kitchen scales will do the trick, as long as everything will fit on them - weigh everything including packaging then check the cost of the weight on the Post Office website. EDIT: Oh, and a ruler to check the measurements of the finished package.
 
Asked my Sister in law, and you just pick the size on the app and it works it out for you. So I'll be trying that tomorrow.

I've downloaded an app called Macadam which you gain coins from walking and surveys etc, so hopefully I'll get some gift vouchers via that too. If anyone is interested I've got a referral code as well.

I've only just started using it, but it tracks steps via your phone or watch depending on what apps you use. It has offers too, so some things on websites are just pay postage for goods. I got a hair and body set, that I might well put on vinted!
 
It would be a phone for me! Normally, I use a step tracker because otherwise it only counts the steps I take when I'm not at home, which is the only time I have my phone on me.

Diesel has gone up over 10p per litre in a week where I am. Glad I filled up last week.
 
I did it, first item up for sale on Vinted. Actually really easy, but now it's the waiting game to see if it sells. Then I have to work out the other side of it, getting it posted and getting the money. But uploading was easy!

It's going up still but slower now, still risen another 5p per litre in a week. Petrol has risen but at a much slower rate.

Heating oil has jumped up hugely, mum has some on order, but companies have been cancelling and forcing people to reorder at a even higher rate.

I'm going to upload a few more items to vinted later today, but the first one hasn't yet sold so we'll see if these do.
 
Cant call it a cost of living thing anymore, its a planned lowering of living standards now. Which isnt too bad for me cos I was already there hah. I do sometimes see reels on instagram that make me think wow some parts of the world are really too far ahead from the other parts of the world, the gaps only seem to grow.

Im relieved my car costs less than half my old car did in petrol PHEW. The electric car sales are expected to surge, but they are still dont quite have the range I need yet so I am still happy that I stuck with petrol for now. Reading 5.2L /100kms on most drives, 5.5L/100 kms average. Done over 10,000kms already in it and I dont drive every day (or even every week).

Farms are raging, cant start seeding without fuel.

Had a lot of vet bills over summer. I have seen two giant bunnies that I want to adopt, but its too risky right now, not knowing how much hay will cost by the end of the year. I have some medical bills coming up too so should just wait for the dust to settle before I look into more little housemates.
 
The news is saying some mines are slowing down, not flying workers up for the next swing. This state is super rich cos of mining, but the people working on the mines might be in trouble soon... might be the next housing crash incoming. I duno, I dont feel worried really, but the news and chatter is now far more doom and gloom, far, far worse than covid was. We'll see how it plays out. Benefit of already being at the bottom, I dont have a whole lot to lose.
 
Diesel and now petrol are really going up, and I'm going to have to refuel soon.

Energy for the summer isn't looking good either, my current fixed contract ends next month, so no doubt that'll go up too. I'm just waiting the next email to tell me that something else is increasing.

I do however get a small payrise as minimum wage has increased.
 
How is everyone doing? I'm definitely already seeing the costs of things going up here in Oklahoma. Gas, while usually $2 or less a gallon, has risen to $3.50. It doesn't really affect me much as I don't drive that much, but it has to be hard for people who do.
