Could Glory have been a Senior Partner?

I once wrote a (rather long - you guys remember it!) fanfic that played with the idea that Glory was a Senior Partner.

At the time I was basing it on the fact she was expelled from her own dimension that required something extra special to get back.

I don't know anything post season 5 of Angel so if there is anything to refute this, fair game, but I'll be honest, I do like the idea that she was a SP.

It also makes a kind of sense that she was expelled for gaining power when the other SP's banded together to rid her because she could potentially ruin their plans.

She was banished by fellow gods though, i don't think the SP will turn out to be gods

Glory referred to herself as a God and the others, that doesn't mean she actually is one.

Besides, what is a God?

1capitalized : the supreme or ultimate reality: as a: the Being perfect in power, wisdom, and goodness who is worshipped as creator and ruler of the universe bChristian Science : the incorporeal divine Principle ruling over all as eternal Spirit : infinite Mind
2: a being or object believed to have more than natural attributes and powers and to require man worship ; specifically : one controlling a particular aspect or part of reality
3: a person or thing of supreme value
4: a powerful ruler

Alot of that, if not all with some minor tweaking to take into account multiple dimensions/demons could easily be applied to what we know of The Senior Partners.

Yeah it is a cool concept, but i don't know why exactly,::huh1:: but i really don't want the senior partners to be Gods.

Also, weren't the other gods who banished her supposed to be female?

I don't mean to be sexist here, but c'mon....

Glorys arrogance could be why she refers to herself as a God and The Watchers Council might just be basing this on the information weened from her.

Very true. But i never felt that Glory's world had any real links to earth, other than the fact they banished her here. If they had, she probably would have just torn through Wolfram and Hart. Ben was in his twenties, so i'm guessing she would have known about Wolfram and Hart before she got booted, or at least plans for it. But again i am not sure how long wolfram and hart had been in business, before Angel arrived.

But didn't the General of the Knights of Byzantium tell Buffy that they had been searching for the key for centuries, or at least a very long time. If Glory and the Key are immortal and have been around for all that time, it stands to reason that Ben would have, too.

I think to associate Glory as anything less than a lesser god of her own dimension is a disservice to the writers. Glory was probably the most well defined big bad of the buffy verse but ultimately i think she had nothing to do with TPTB solely because that would detract from her character. The buffyverse consists of multiple dimensions and glory (like sweet) was the owner (god) of that dimension.

The watchers council called Glory a god first. For all things Buffy, the council forms the definitive answer... Glory was a god (spelled g not G).

I remember it being said that Glory was banished into a new born male. Just figured Ben grew at the normal rate, which would mean twenty something years had passed. But perhaps you're right, maybe Ben was around a lot longer than that.

Ooooh... silly idea I'm having atm:

What if Ben aged normally, but only during the times that it was actually him in his body and not Glory manifesting? That way, depending on how much "stage time" Glory steals from him, he would effectively age much more slowly than a standard human (so, if Glory was manifesting about half of the time, he would have been born around 50-55 years before Season 5...).

I thought Glory has just been banished 25 years before (about Ben's age) and Ben was born as a baby and grew up with Glory in him. I took it he was bought in to the world like Dawn with just being there and everything altered to fit him in. But then maybe he's been the same for the last 25 years or so, its so hard to tell lol.

As for Glory being a senior partner at Wolfram & Hart, I highly doubt it, but I wouldn't be surprised if before Buffy and season 5 they approached her in some way. I expect they knew she was around, if not Glory had probably heard of them back in her own dimension.

Jasmine said that gods & old ones were the rulers of Earth before humanity evolved. The implication that I got from Illyria & Jasmine (who would know better?) was that discounting the First, there are really just two sentient species, Humanity & gods/Old Ones. Illyria, Jasmine, TPTB & Glory all fall into the god/Old One category (possibly Osiris also). The rest of the "demons" are only part demon and part something else, whether it be human or animal (Anya & Urkkon both mentioned this).

Based on what Illyria said, even the Senior Partners aren't 100% pure.

The main reason I don't think Glory is one of the Senior Partners is because, it seems like all three of them are still together.

Its interesting that you think there are three of them.

I don't. I just think Wolfram and Hart is the name of the group.
I highly doubt that three beings would allow two names to merge as one and have one separate.
I don't think the Senior Partners are above petty differences and in this case it would be similar to saying one is better than the other two.

They've been referred to as The Wolf, The Ram and The Hart, suggesting that there are three of them and they just merged their names to create a law firm name.

Angel & Co. found this out by looking at some books they found in Pylea, IIRC.

yep, and times after that too

Yes I know but that doesn't actually mean there is a 'Mr Wolf', 'Mr Ram' and 'Mr Hart' in charge of the company.

I don't think that the demon powers that are the Senior Partners would concede to one and by allowing one name to remain separate, 'Wolfram and Hart' is the name of the firm, they are intentionally or not, elevating one.

Agreed, but then we're going by canon, EB is above that, he's made that clear. What could Illyria know, the Senior Partners' contemporary, that EB doesn't? Our logic is heavily flawed Andrew! We're going by Wes, Lindsey, Angel & Illyria, the stars of the show. EB is going by a fanfic that he wrote himself! His fanfics clearly supersede anything that blowhard Joss Whedon writes!

ILLYRIA
The wolf, ram, and hart? In my time they were weak, barely above the
vampire.

ANGEL
'Cause it's not about us, Lindsey. It's about them. The wolf. The ram. The hart. The ones we've been fighting against forever.

That not conclusive proof that there are three entities.
Thats the title of the group.

I have not once claimed that the 'logic' is flawed, I have claimed that IF we're to believe these demons are might and powerful that it isn't beyond reason that they would also have internal issues and vying for power.

If they are vying for Power, why would two of them lesson their authority by letting themselves be clumped together?

It is standard practice in the real world for the name of a firm of Lawyers to be the last names of the 'Senior Partners' which is true BUT if that is the case then the firm should be Wolf, Ram and Hart but its not, its Wolfram and Hart.
Thats only two names.

Show me an actual quote from the show that says specifically that there are only 3 senior partners.

Go on, give me the scene where Holland says 'There are three people in charge or this company'.

Go on, if you can do that, I will gladly say I am wrong on this but until you can, your 'canon' has a hole in it.
