I mean I think that she got shot in her heart, but do you think that if Willow didn't panick and instead called an ambulance could they save Tara ?

I instantly started wondering about it when I watched that episode, and Willow just walked out of the house leaving Tara's body in their bedroom. What if she had called an ambulance ?

From what we are shown, Tara is very much dead as soon as she hits the floor. We also know this because the demon confirms it when Willow calls him. In cases like these where there is most likely perforation of either the heart or a major artery, if the person dies there is no chance of resuscitation.

But, that is the point really isn't that Willow isn't in her right mind at that point, so does not act as a normal person would. Also, if you truly believe that the person in question was dead (which clearly Tara was at that point), then I think most people would just go numb and be in shock so in some ways your thinking can I save them.

It was a beautifully tragic scene, and it was very sad to lose Tara (but I can understand the reasons behind it also). If there is a flawless character in terms of just being really sweet and down to earth throughout Buffy then it would be Tara, or at least she is as close to it as you can get.

And it's really those very two qualities that make it difficult to believe that she was allowed to live as long as she did, since Joss seems to prefer characters with some sort of flaw in their character somewhere. As near as I could tell, Tara had none, so she should have died before the first commercial in "Hush."

Luckily for all of us, she didn't.

I do wonder how far back he knew that Tara was going to be killed off. It is a credit to the writing of the Tara character and Amber's performance that you still find her so compelling despite playing what could have been a very square and ordinary character.

Not sure if he knew before then (probably), but he announced to Amber that she was going to be killed of at the time that they were filming the s5 finale. So he knew at least one season in advance, but it's Joss, so probably even more than that.

Just wondered as I always felt it odd that Tara was never featured in the opening credits, until of course the episode she was killed in, which proved a really clever way to pull the rug out from under us all, ("right Tara and Willow must be staying together for awhile, like ever right? Oh! Okay"😱)...

Yes that was cruel! Grrr.
Like everyone else has said she seemed to have been killed instantly, there's nothing Willow could have done apart from attempt to use magic as she tried to bring her back to life. This scene was so upsetting, Tara was almost flawless I agree, such an all round good person, it made it more upsetting to see her go. When Willows dark eyes flashed up with tears it was so intense, she was so full of grief, all she could do was hold her.

Yes, and I for one could not blame Willow for her later actions, or at least I could understand them on some level, even if there are moral factors to consider. It was just cruical to the Willow character that Tara was killed off, I can see that, but maybe in hindsight she should have stayed single throughout S7.

I completely agree! However bad it may sound Warren got what he deserved, he was so sick and twisted and he was a serial killer. He would've kept on going until someone stopped him. There are moral implications but no wonder Willow did what she did, she was overcome by grief. She wanted vengeance and rightly so. I loved Tara but her death was essential for Willow losing all control that's true. I think she should've been single in season 7 too it just didn't seem right. It's like they just threw Kennedy into the mix to give Willow a romantic interest for the sake of things, she could not have compared to Tara in any way.

I always thought that Tara's dead was ...maybe wrong is the right word?If you ask me that was somehow the silliest death in Buffyverse.I mean why Tara? Why in that moment? But again,Tara was Willow's price for getting Buffy back.

You may have a point with your last comment. Its also to do with Whedon wanting to keep the viewers on their toes. And because it was a logical way to send Willow to the darkside.

That's a good point. Serious magic like what Willow used to bring Buffy back always comes with consequences. It might be possible that the loss of Tara was in effect the balance being restored (bring back one life, take another).

That's what Joss said recently - the moment Willow slit the fawn's throat, Tara was gonna die.
I think that Willow couldn't have saved Tara, no matter what she did.
It makes me so sad that Willow only just got Tara back, and she had to go again. . .for good.🙁
I felt thats Willow's addiction problem was still unresolved somehow, and I think this was a good way, even if sad, to fix that.😳

It completes her journey - from resouling Angelus (where Giles warned her there would be dangers) - to using blood magic and necromancy to raise Buffy - to going full dark!

And I sincerely love tara - of all the cast she would be the person I would most want to spend an afternoon with. Same goes for Amber Benson.

Amber mentioned recently at a con that Tara was supposed to die very early in S6, which would have made the life for a life idea more pronounced. If you look at some of the group promo shots for S6, she's not in some of them. Could be why.

Tara's death was devastating she was the only level headed character out of everyone so kind and forgiving, I wish they could of found a way to keep her character around... her and willow were the only sane couple.., but I do understand it was necessary for willow's storyline....Her going all dark witch on us, the irony for me is I never really cared much for willow until she began abusing magic.... I'm sorry but she was a kick ass dark witch super cool.. I just wish they could've kept Tara in the mix somehow she was my fav..

I'm sure I remember Aly saying that Joss had plans for her to go Evil quite early on (Before Hush I think) so, knowing the way he plans ahead, he could well have
planned for Tara to be the catalyst for her journey to the Dark side all along...... (Darth Vader take note!)

Aly & Amber were good friends before Amber got the part & I don't think Joss could have foreseen how well the tw0 actresses were going to spark off one another
& become so well loved by the fans.......

While I like the idea of a life for a life I feel it implies a lack of control by Warren. If Tara's death is caused by the magic Willow used to bring Buffy back does that mean Warren is less culpable? He would have been influenced by supernatural forces. Unless that bullet really did curve mid-air.

Also I liked Tara but that episode where she makes demons invisible almost ruined her character.
