Could the First have imitated Willow?

I'm putting this here because it has to do with season two as well as seven so if I'm wrong I apologize...

Could the First have imitated Willow? Was she technically dead in "Halloween" on that ladies porch when she was dressed as a ghost? She fell, she didn't get up...was that really her spirit? Thoughts? Just curious...
 
I say, no. When Willow was a ghost, she was dead, but she never died. That sounds utterly paradoxical, but there's magic for you. And the criterion seems to be whether someone has died--that's precisely why The First can imitate Buffy, and Warren, and even vampires.

I might be able to believe that the First could imitate Willow if it were a spell that lasted indefinitely, and she had remained a ghost for all of six years. But other than that, I'd guess that the history of going through a normal process of death is what's required, and Willow lacks this.
 
Becoming incorporeal does not mean being dead. So i would agree on no part even if that spell lasted forever.
 
Well, if Joss ever brings back The First in Season Eight, perhaps The First could imitate Willow, since
Buffy kills "Future Dark Willow" at the end of "Time of Your Life". There's the time paradox thing, but would this work?

Didn't actual die? But we watched her choke to death and then leave her body. But with that said, when the magic was broken, she wasn't STILL dead. So I say no the First couldn't.
 
Yeah, the way she went down is what had me wondering. I guess when there's mystical forces involved there can be loopholes. I just figured hey, why not? Guess it was just an out of body experience or something to that effect.
 
No, cause Willow only took the forum of her custom. now if one of the vamps of spikes, or some other demon, found her and actually killed her, then I could see it. Why didn't anyone find her body in that episode anyway?
 
Depending on what Dark Willow actually did do in those five seconds after being hit by Warren's axe, she might be eligible for "Firstification". Did she die and bring herself back to life, or does getting axed in the back just stun her when she's in Dark mode? Actually, when I read the thread title, I immediately thought of that scene, not of "Halloween".

As to Halloween, a point why her "death" there will probably not count is that the "vampires" made by Ethan's costumes weren't, even in this episode, considered "real" vampires (remember the kid-vampire lurking in Buffy's house, uninvited?)... so it seems that the supernatural laws don't apply for Ethan-creatures - thus, "Ethan-death" likely won't count as death for The First.

I doubt Dark Willow "died" from the axe-to-the-back incident, that sort of wound is unlikely to be instantaneously fatal and resurrecting herself would surely break the "no resurrection from non-mystical deaths" rule. Most likely she simply healed herself.

Agreed re: the halloween "death" as well. The Ethan-effect did seem to differ from "real" versions of the same. Even if it did count it would have been massively confusing for the viewer, everyone would have been like "when did Willow die?"
