Couldn't Faith stay as a regular?

I've been finishing the fight/tribute for Faith this time (which is almost done) and I was wondering how come she never ended up being a regular in any season from any series.

She felt like a regular in Season 3 of Buffy but not completely. The rest of the show we only see small parts of her. She really made a difference in Season 4 of Angel since personally it was a downfall with the whole Jasmin thing, I could really see her stay for a while longer.

But maybe the perfect fit for Faith was to have her own show.
What do you think?

Yes I wish she was a regular. She should have been for season 3 but since they added Oz I guess it a was too many. She should have joined Spike for a season 5 of Angel. That would have Been awesome! Definitely could have used more Faith.

I really really wish she would have been. On either AtS or BtVS (she had amazing chemistry with everyone). But, part of Faith's charm is that she's such an integral part of the story, and has one of the most interesting storyline, yet we only get to see that in small doses. I think not having her as a regular was a smart move, even if I wish we would have gotten more of her. They still managed to make her one of the most multi-layered character, so I can't really be mad.

But d'ya ever notice how on 'Buffy' nobody's allowed to take the spot-light away from Buffy herself. Angel isn't really that competent in S2 until he goes evil, then he's suddenly a match for Buffy in a fight. And in S3 he's weak throughout a lot of the show. until, because he's getting his own show and moving on, he gets to be kickass near the end. ('Earshot', Choices' 'Graduation Day')
Also Spike, after he goes 'good' becomes much less effective, almost laughably so to say this guy almost killed Buffy a couple of times, until well into S7, when he becomes...*sigh* 'her strongest warrior', or a least close as to how tough he used to be. ('magic trophy victim coat!' 😡)

So Faith, wouldn't have been as effective on 'Buffy' because its Buffy's show, she's the star. Until that changed I really couldn't have seen her as a regular, she's a slayer, she should be tough.
(It's worth noting that when Faith was on Buffy, when she's not a badguy, it was to show qualities that she lacked that Buffy didn't, caution, adaptability in a fight, balanced approach to slaying, leadership, etc. The focus was usually still on how Buffy was the better slayer)

Having said that, the perfect season to bring Faith back to 'Buffy' would've been S6, since it's the darkest, everybody is screwed up, I think she would've fitted right in and wouldn't have upset the balance/dynamic of the show that much, then she could've stuck around for the whole of S7.

The whole point of 'Angel' wasn't about him being the most powerful character on the show, it was about him being unique, a leader.
In S5 we had Illyria, a hugely powerful Old-one, wandering around and Spike (who is, physically, Angel's sort-of equal) there, and it didn't feel like Angel was getting side-lined or anything. It worked.
Throw in superpowered people like Gwen Raiden and Gruesluugg, and Angel was never considered 'easily the most powerful character on the show'.
When Faith was on Angel, she was the slayer, and shown to be incredible powerful, still a flawed person, that Angel could've activily helped become a better person.

Faith could've fitted in to Angel right from S2 onwards. Man, that would've been sweet. 🙂
Her helping with 'Angel-less' Angel investigations, freaking out over little- vampire baby Conner,', bonding with Wesley (slowly) and Gunn (a lot quicker), maybe having an acual 'girlfriend' in Cordy (who has some similar personality traits to Faith- straight forward, pragmatic, etc) or Fred.

I think that it would have worked out well if Faith had come back to Sunnydale for the last 2 or 3 episodes of Season 5, made her peace with Buffy, reestablished their friendship, then stayed the summer between 5 and 6, maybe with a hint that feelings could be developing between her and Spike. She would then stay for a few episodes into Season 6, but, realizing that she's little more than "the other Slayer" there, leaves town in search of her own place in the world. She could show up occasionally as a recurring character throughout the rest of the series, then maybe Eliza would have been more open to a series of her own after Season 7, maybe with one or two of the "Buffy" cast moving on with her.

As for being a full time member of the cast in any season, I would have really liked for Buffy and Faith to have been close friends, but Sunnydale is primarily Buffy's territory. Faith should have her own, just the same as Angel does. Crossovers in time of crisis would have been good, maybe teaming up for the annual apocalypse final battles, but Faith deserves to be her own person, with her own story, even if that story takes place off screen. She doesn't deserve to be Buffy's sidekick, or Robin to Buffy's Batman.

Well there were good times with Faith and Buffy in Season 3, they didn't last long though but it did work out having Faith around, they are both slayers but completely different from each other.

On Angel she would have been interesting around Cordelia and Wesley but I wouldn't see her fitting well until Season 4 to 5 because like I already said, there is a lack of feminine without Cordelia & Fred. Since we weren't going to get them back we could have used a strong female character around.

But... I still feel Faith would have been perfect on her own show. Too bad it never happened.
