So, every October I try to watch a horror movie everyday leading up to my favorite holiday Halloween πŸŽƒ!
Would anyone else like to join me in this? We could discuss and share what we watch? Or if that's too much to commit to, we could just discuss Halloween in general - what we plan to dress up as, events we plan to attend, treat recipes, decorations, etc. I know I can't be the only one on here who loves this holiday as much as I do! What do we think?

We think hmm, I think 😊
give us a running commentary of the horror movies you watch Joan the Vampire Slayer, maybe some folks (looks at other members) will add their comments about that film, prefer films not episodes of a TV series (but that's just me).

I might rewatch Us (2019) because it's my favourite horror film and GhostWatch (1992) for the atmosphere and probably some films I've never seen.

What are you watching?

I love the Halloween season.

Us is a great one.
We've already watched Hocus Pocus 1 and 2. lol. I also want to what the Buffy Halloween episodes this year, Werewolf by Night, Halloweentown, maybe Nightmare Before Christmas, and a few others. Not sure what gonna dress up as just yet.

Honestly, I'm going to turn all the lights out, light red candles, and blast death metal. Just for an hour or so, right after nightfall. Porch lights out as well. Then I'll sit near the window and watch people AVOID my place. I've done it before. πŸ˜„

My favorite horror movie from 2025 was Weapons... with Dangerous Animals close behind, so they make my Halloween playlist. I loved Weapons so much partly because it felt like an actual horror version of Hocus Pocus with how the kids got drawn in... and Hocus Pocus is a Halloween staple so Weapons ranks up there with it now as a Halloween horror must-see in my mind. Some of my other choice horror films Smile, Talk to Me, Night Swim and even though I'm not as big on slashers as I once was, I liked The Hunt & Thanksgiving from more recently. I love Robert Rodriguez's Grindhouse Double Feature from 2007 which had a fake trailer for Thanksgiving so seeing it actually get made in 2023 was cool and fun. The Ritual (Blair Witch Project but actually terrifying), The Babysitter (the 'Scream' of the 2010s imo), Terrifier (series) (Ultimate Clown Horror Slasher- more gory than Hatchet which was gory af!) and the Cabin in the Woods (monster mash) from the 2010s. The Devils Rejects, Jennifers Body & Cursed from the 2000s make my list for top tier horror and black-comedy. NONE have as much pure Halloween spirit as the 90s classics Casper, Idle Hands, Hocus Pocus, Sleepy Hollow, House on Haunted Hill & The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Some other favorites like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Vamps, The Faculty, The Craft, Bride of Chucky, Urban Legend, House of Wax, Friday the 13th and Disturbing Behavior as well. I actually like Texas Chainsaw Massacre ('03), Halloween II ('09) & Hatchet more than the Friday the 13th remake, but aesthetically I liked the remake. I always found Michael Myers boring until Rob Zombies interpretations in Halloween ('07) & Halloween II ('09). Also, 30 Days of Night still holds up as quality horror for the season because that is still the scariest vampire movie I've seen.

Also for zombie/post-apocalyptic horror/action, my Halloween list is Zombieland, Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days Later, Resident Evil, Planet Terror & Doomsday. Doomsday especially is my favorite; it's kind of a masterpiece.

I am hardly a horror aficionado, but it is amazing how many of those I haven't even heard of, never mind seen.

I've seen most of these but but not all. Planning to watch Dangerous Animals tonight.
Think of yourself as lucky, @NotASlayer, I have seen several of them and most of those were not scary. Which version of the film Sleepy Hollow was that one pictured, the Christina Ricci version was good but the Rachelle Lefevre version was poor.
Cursed, Jennifers Body, Hocus Pocus, Casper, Nightmare before Christmas, House of Wax, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Urban Legend, The Craft, Zombieland. Any somewhat scary parts were cancelled out by poor acting.

There's no character really that she could play at that age, unless she does Lily or waits a few years and does Neville's mum Alice.

So sorry guys! Life got crazy for a sec there but I'm back! So happy to see replies to my thread. Yay.

I have been successful in watching a horror movie daily. Being unemployed helps, lol. Here's what I have watched thus far with ratings and comments:

Goosebumps TV show (1998) - watched the pilot eps. purely for nostalgia purposes. But honestly not a terrible show. 7/10

Scream 4 (2011) --my favorite of the franchise thus far. Always a good rewatch. 10/10

I Will Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006) --Third sequal to I Know What You Did Last Summer. Horrendous. Do not recommend. 2/10

Jennifer's Body (2009) - Better than I remember. Very clever and campy and delightfully dark. 10/10

Valentine (2001) - Not a bad film, and gets a star for starring DB. 8/10

Queen Of The Damned (2002) - Based loosely on a book. My guilty pleasure film. Cheesy but entertaining and very visually appealing πŸ˜‰ Amazing soundtrack. 10/10

Dead End (2003) - Never seen this before. Very cool, dark and campy horror film with a different premise. 10/10.

BTW all these movies are free to watch on Tubi.

Beyond that I did put up my Halloween decorations and bought a cow costume for my dogs. Pics soon.

So what are yall planning to dress up as this year? I'm thinking of recycling my Care Bears one from last year ....

How I normally dress already scares a lot of people! πŸ‘š πŸ˜›
Joan the Vampire Slayer Like what?

Like a old retired appliance repairman that played in a band on the weekends.......jeans, t-shirt, tennis shoes, and long hair......that's more gray than brown now!

I almost finished decorating at work, put up loads of bats yesterday.

I am tempted by the Lego Halloween wreath.

Jennifers Body.
I tend to get a bit bored during ' Jennifers Body ' but right at the end when Amanda Seyfried is in the cell, I always felt there was another film with her as the main attraction.

Queen Of The Damned.
The last few scenes in the offices of the Talamusca(n)(?) with Paul McGann were really good but my favourite scenes were of Jesse and Lestat walking over London bridge, that is my all time favourite scene of all films, suffice to say I do like film ' Queen Of The Damned '.

Anyone done a murder mystery dinner party, a host your own rather than a restaurant/hotel type?

Not doing it for Halloween, might do an escape room instead, but looking at doing one at some point maybe over Christmas and New Years.

Probably just watch some Halloween movies and episodes. As for Halloween day, I'll be celebrating in Shinjuku & Shibuya! Should be a hoot! ☺️
