I think you're right. I do like Twillow, but I really loved Oz and Will's relationship. It's my second favorite 'ship.
I also ship Twillow, Sprusilla, Xanya, Cander, Fresley, Fred/Spike, Frillow, Cordy/Doyle, and that's it, I think 😀

I'm Tillow and Spuffy (I nearly typed Spangel. I think my brain is elsewhere. 😉), but if Xanya isn't involved, shippings don't really bother me. I like Willow/Oz and I like Willow/Kennedy. Bangel is just...no. But, otherwise, I'm open to anything. As long as it doesn't involve Xander. Or Anya. Without the other one. Because Xanya. <3
That was a little off topic. I'm Tillow and Spuffy. Oh, and Cangel. And, yes, I've noticed the pattern, it always makes me curious; I think it's to do with people who prefer the first few seasons, who prefer the middle ones and who prefer the last few. Hmm, who knows.

I definitely agree with this theory. 🙂 Although technically I'm one of those weirdos who 'ship EVERYONE, with the exception of Bangel, Spawn, Dander, Bander, and Angeve. 😀
As you all know, I am in fact a Spuffy (and a spangel, and a cangel, and a dangel, and a fuffy), and I also love Tillow and Xanya. I don't dislike Woz, it was cute and all, but I thought that Tillow was much more deep and beautiful. 🙂

Fresley was sweet, but I also loved Wilah. Willyria's kinda pretty, but I prefer Spillyria. 😀
Ah, see, that's pretty much my point in a nutshell. One of the many reasons that I HATE it when people insist that Buffy was lying when she told Spike she loved him, or she loved him, but "just as a friend". Spuffiers don't pretend Buffy and Angel weren't actually in love, do they? No, because we can accept that in that time in her life Angel was the one she should be with. He was extremely important to her when she was younger, and I'm sure that they did love each other. But people grow up and change, and what they look for and want in a relationship changes too once they are actually IN more experiential relationships. Spike was really important to Buffy at that time in her life, and it's pretty obvious that she loved him. IMO saying otherwise is just disrespectful to Buffy herself. Who knows, maybe in the end Buffy WILL end up with Angel. Chances are she won't end up with either one of them. Sure, she loved them both very much at different times in her life, but, like, going back to Angel (i. e.) would be like going back to your first wife that you married in high school, after being divorced for five years. It'd be horrible; The relationship would have to change a LOT, because both of the participants had matured and changed their outlooks and inhibitions in their time away.
But anyway, if I keep this up we'll have another 'shipper war on our hands. 😀

I don't think I fit these "patterns". I absolute love Tara/Willow, but Spuffy makes me wretch. I like Fuffy, Cangel, Tara/Willow, Xander/Anya and Wesley/Lilah. So there's quite a bit of variation in the couples I like - from the sexy, angsty, good/evil relationships like Fuffy and Weslah, to the sweet, sensual relationships like Tillow. I also hate the "sexy", angsty, good/evil Spuffy, and the supposedly sweet and normal Buffy/Riley. I guess I'm a bit anomalous like that.

I am a bangeler and I really prefer Fresley over Frunn...besides, Wes loved Fred all the way! tragic loves attract me!
I've always wondered if whether you ship the early couples vs. later couples has anything to do with what season you watched the show. It seems people who ship the early couples started watching the show in 97 or 98 and people who like the later couples started watching in season 5 or later. I began watching Buffy Season 1, and Buffy Season 5 at the same time and continued to watch the early seasons and later seasons at the same time when I first saw the show.
One note on Willow/Oz or Willow/Tara
I love both relationships although I can't stand Kennedy. When Willow was with Oz he was kinda the leader in the relationship (he was popular,asked her out first,wasn't a virgin unlike her). I'm not saying he was controlling or that Willow was by any means weak but it was a different dynamic than Willow/Tara. I always saw Willow being the leader in that relationship (Willow went to Tara's apartment, Tara was more shy/had less friends at first,Willow was more powerful at magic than Tara although less experienced.) One thing I can't decide. Would Willow's magic have gotten as out of control if she'd stayed with Oz? I think it would've.

I absolutely fit the trend. It's not because I believe in first love though, I just believe in love and my ships reflect how much I enjoy the characters whilst they were in these relationships.

I love Bangel(oh you already know that!) and it's my no1 favourite ship! It's a soul mate kind of love and love at first sight perhaps...I generally,in life, do not believe in love at first sight.There are some people though who claim it happened.But I do believe that in your life you are capable of loving many people,but only one of them can make you complete, soul,heart and body. I do believe in soul mates. Despite the fact that some people are different they can find starnge similarities, and realise that only when they are together they feel completely happy no matter if their relationship is kind of doomed!Just like the way I see Buffy's love life. I won't say she didn't care about Riley or Spike in the end...I only saw her complete with Angel.
Yeah I like WOz too.I love the way Oz(what a gentleman) treats Willow and their interaction is great. Tillow is cute, although I see a drastic change in Will's character and certainly I hate Kennedy/Willow mostly because of Kennedy.
As you also already know, I don't consider Spuffy as a love IMO at least the way I define love and even if it could evolve into love we'll never know. I try not to hate it a lot cause I have interesting talks with people here about it. To me Spuffy is a sort of communication.

Ehh, whether or not they were actually ever happy is certainly happy, since an overwhelming portion of the time they were completely miserable with each other ("when I'm with you, I want to die"), but whatev, we all see different things. 😀
Woz is a sweetheart, and I do love Woz, it's very adorable. But I prefer Tillow, since I love Willow MUCH more from Season 4 up, and because it goes so much deeper and sweeter than other relationships. It's definitely a love that I would look for in RL. 😀 Actually, I don't really mind Killow. I don't 'ship it, but I don't dislike it either. It's kinda sweet. 🙂

It's true that the actors don't have that much chemistry, but I still felt that it was beautifully written, like in Birthday. IMO, that sacrifice was WAY greater than the one Buffy did in Graduation Day pt 2.
Well, I 'ship pretty much everyone. I mostly 'ship Spuffy, Cangel, Tillow, and Xanya. But I also like Woz, Killow, and a billion other 'ships. So I guess so. Maybe. 😀

I don't think I fit the theory that people who watched the older seasons first prefer the older couples, and vice versa. I only started watching the series on DVD last year, but I watched S2 first (then 3, 4, 5, 1, 6). 2 and 3 are miles ahead of all the other seasons in terms of quality for me. However, all my ships happen after S3 (Cangel, Tillow, Weslah), the only one that doesn't is Fuffy, which never happened anyway.

I actually ship Cander, Dangel, Sprusilla, Xanya, and Weslah. I have an odd taste in couples, lol. For Willow, I can't decide between Tillow and Woz because I love them both, and I feel the same way about Bangel and Spuffy because I love them equally too.
I also forgot to mention that I ship Fresley too because I love them together, and they're better than Frunn!
