Seriously, Jo Chen just keeps outdoing herself.

Before Season Eight, Joss Whedon brought generations of Slayers and vampires to comics with the help of his acclaimed TV writing team and some of the best artists to ever grace the comics page. Now all those stories, plus selected stories from Season Eight, are collected in one deluxe hardcover with a new cover by Jo Chen.
Joss writes multiple tales: a somber vamp tale, drawn by Cameron Stewart; the story of the first Slayer, drawn by Leinil Yu; and more.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Tales also reprints for the first time new Season Eight stories written by novelist Jackie Kessler (Hell's Belles) and award-winning cartoonist Becky Cloonan (Demo), featuring vampires living in the public eye, killing Slayers and killing each other.

It certainly is pretty (as is expected, really) but as far as I recall Buffy herself appears in exactly one of the stories and neither Spike nor Angel in any of them, so not REALLY fitting.
 
I think all the previous, non-canon DH stories will be in this too? Anyone confirm that?

But I agree, total marketing ploy and I am sure it will work a treat.
 
It looks like it just combines all the stuff from the "Tales of the Slayers" and "Tales of the Vampires" TPB's, updated with the stuff that's come out since under those titles. If so, Buffy is in two of the stories ("Antiques" and "Broken Bottle of Djinn"), Spike (and Dru) is in one ("The Problem With Vampires"), and Angel is in one ("Numb").

Everything in this book should be canonical... the non-canon stuff was released by Dark Horse under the Omnibus series.

The cover does look great. Jo Chen has, as usual, awarded Buffy larger breasts than she is rightfully entitled to, but I'm not complaining.
 
I agree, it really is a beautiful cover, but, being me, I just HAVE to ask, "Why is she holding her stake backwards?" The way that she's holding it, the only person in danger of being staked is Buffy herself. Or maybe Angel.

I think that I just answered my own question.

Angel doesn't look very Angel-like though does he? He actually kinda looks like my cousin.

Spike seems to have found his crazy t-shirt again.

I thought that, well not that he looks like you cousin, but yeah I thought it was Xander at first. Mostly though he looks like a young Giles.

Joss said back when Season 8 began that he specifically did NOT want a "T & A" artist drawing the characters, because that wouldn't be rue to what had been done on the show. But Chen's Buffy sure does have a lot more "T" than Sarah ever did, especially in the later seasons.
 
I like it! Mostly because Spike is (finally) in it!
And he's sooo looking at her boobs haha!

In general I'd have to say that season 8 graphics didn't do too badly in that arena. But I agree that Chen makes Buffy more endowed...this one very, very endowed LOL!

It looks great. Only one thing I've noticed with Jo Chen's covers is that she has troubles reproducing Buffy's facial traits. I don't know why, but most of the covers I've seen, I just DON'T recognize SMG. 😛 On the other hand, she does Angel, Spike, Giles and some others almost perfectly!

But anyway, great cover!
