Also unknown to Buffy, Spike has a conversation with an old friend that leads him to question the patterns of his relationship with Buffy.

Maybe because Spike doesn't trust Buffy, or any of the feelings she has shown towards him. He hasn't since that kiss in the graveyard. And now he's questioning himself- surprise, suprise. Seems like somebody just attained something they've been after for a while...

I should probably start chilling that champagne now, which is actually surprising. I'd thought I'd have to put up with this utter non-event of a relationship for at least a few more months.
