Finally.... They're here. And now it's sorta clear who the real big bad of this season is.

So is that supposed to be the REAL Anya ghost as the Fauxanya was made corporeal wasnt she?

And what's with all those Hawaii related details in this and some of the other covers? Is someone in desperate need of a vacation?
 
Yes, she was made solid and immortal.. plus fauxanya below looks different than ghost!anya above.

Yet with the exact same clothes.... "Wait! I know this one!.... They're both [faux] Anya!" 😉

Maybe it's just the fact that they were drawn by different artists.
 
The second one looks like more a panel than a cover... (and notice that Xander is back). But the way he says "do you remember Anya?" is strange - of course everybody remembers her... and Anya now is corporeal... are there two Anyas then? D'Hoffryn is still playing with Xander? So many questions...

Yeah, Anya looks very different - I think this is the first time Isaacs draws her.

Duh! I didnt even think about that. That's interesting. Oh god I hope Real Anya!Ghost didn't find them in the hell dimension and guide them home.

If it's a panel, he and Dawn came back and are OK; if it's a cover... it may show what Xander should have done the first time Anya appeared to him, and didn't.

Would he have come back WITHOUT Dawn? Or did she just happen not to be in that panel. Could FauxAnya have duped him into coming back for some reason? Especially since she is solid now, she could have crossed over whereas before as a ghost she could not have. At least I think she said it was because she was a ghost.

But the Scoobies, including Xander, don't seem to be devasted or anything, and if Dawn was lost to them, they wouldn't be so... calm and collected, talking about Anya.

But corporeal Anyanka could cross and go to other dimensions, yes... but then, she would be working against her boss, because for D'Hoffryn is better a Slayer distracted with her lots sister...

I dont think any of this is actually happening but...

Thats why she would lure Xander back... to throw another monkeywrench and Buffy get upset that Xander left her alone, etc But fauxanya saying she could get her back etc just to get Buffy focused on helping faux do something she doesn't plan to do. Buffy trying to help fauxanya would mean she's not focusing on her main objective.

I just would hate if they suddenly came back so easily. There needs to be more to it.

Yeah, it has to be about the journey, not only to put back Xander and Dawn or to break up Buffy and Spike. I hope they don't just find a "back door" and oops, they are back. I love what CG did in A&F S9 in Quor'Toh (but it was an arc) and I like Willow and her walkabout (but it was a mini), and here there isn't much time, I'm afraid.

No. Xander and Dawn didn't come back. That panel happened in the hell dimension.

Why would they do that? Now we know that Xander will come back and that Anya is Anya and isn't evil! Why spread spoilers?

As if they didn't let us know Twilight's identity several months before the actual comics was out.😀

I think I've blocked that. 😀 I actually miss the old S8 days. There was no buzz around the comics and everybody talked about them.

nope she's at least drawn her in issue 1 this season, possibly other times, but its not the first. we're just too used to seeing levens' version.

btw, i loveee the morris cover. im ignoring some anatomy, but his likeness is on point (its been awhile).
