Crazy little thing called hair

OK, as a matter of fact, since I only had to work a half-day yesterday, i went to get a haircut (right before I went to Serenity!). Yeah, typically, they'll ask if you have the day off, then comment on the weather.

We were talking about local weather, which segwayed into Hurricane Katrina, our local cops going down there to volunteer, winter clothing, would I like to raise my sideburns, heh.

Most barbers I've encountered are fairly talkative. It can't be the most intellectually stimulating job, I'd imagine.
 
I used to have some old guy barber that always tried to make conversation with me.I would answer his questions and then there'd be an awkward silence.I recently moved to a new barbershop and the guy that cuts my hair now is in his early twenties I think and he doesn't say a word.The first time I went there,I forgot to tip him and I felt really bad afterwards.So the next time I went,which was a week ago,I gave him a ten dollar tip.
 
I usually get my hair cut either at a chain hair-cutting place, or someone from the local cosmetology school I know will do it for practice. You have to be very discerning in the selection process too, because some of them don't have any hand-eye coordination. I used to dye my hair alot, but finally I dyed it Black and it was horrible. Not even a color-stripper could get it out. I had to have my hair like that for my senior pictures in high school. LOL. But I let it grow out a few inches and then cut it all off. My hair is down to my shoulders now though. I got tired of not being able to put my hair in a pony-tail. I did dye my hair yesterday though. It's now a dark, reddish purple color. I love it. I've gotten several compliments on it today at school.
 
I've had some horrible dye jobs in my past. Whenever I go to the salon after doing so, they'd always give me a look like "You should have came to me".

Now I've decided to let them gradually turn me blonde with highlights....which I need to make another appointment for 😀
 
I love getting my hair done.

Since I am a natural brunette who has been bleached blonde for about three years.... I have regular appointments. Since I've been going to the same person for those three years, we have pretty regular conversations. I think getting your hair done is very relaxing.

I am not a fan of hair cuts though. I hate having it cut, because then I always hate it afterwards. But recently, I took the plunge and had five inches cut off (it really needed it... dead, damaged ends). So, I'm sporting a nice end-of-season-six buffy style. But I can't wait until it grows out.
 
I got crazy the other morning, I woke up, and for some reason they had turned all the electricity off (again, gah) and there was just nothing to do so I just went in to town and got my hair done. Okey to be fair I have been thinking about it for a while, but never took the time.. Now my hair is very much shorter (to about the shoulders) and it feels and looks great, I was very pleased.
 
My hair is the most important thing to me, no lie... I'm not vain... It's just something I'm neurotic about...

Every 3 weeks (unless I'm sailing), I go and get my hair done professionally... Spend over a hundred dollars, and I totally don't feel guilty at all 😀
 
Hair...pah! Overrated! However, I generally go for a trim with Mrs P at her hairdresser and get my usual number one cut (and polish 😛) and we talk about the weather and holidays and that about sums up Brit hairdresser talk between female hairdresser and male customer 😉 BTW barber I think comes from the French for beard, if anyone is interested, hence the the more male leaning in your average barbershop...if only we could stop the incessant four-part harmonies 😉
 
I have never been to the hairdresser and my hair is just so crazy that there is no use trying to do anything about it. I have someone (like my mom or a friend) cut it and dye it once in a while, but it never really looks good. I have started getting used to having bad hair days every day, that's just the way it is..
 
i have acually only been to a hairdresser once. when i was 15(i'm 22 now). it was for me and my brothers confirmation and mom wanted us to go to the hairdresser before we went to a photographer. My mom always cut my hair, well not when i was going through my "LEts cut my hair like Buffy" face when i was 14. (then i cut it and she fixed it LOL)

but as small talk go i'm pretty good, specially since i HATE aquard(LOL sP???) silences. so i just talk and talk and talk... sometimes to the point that i think people acually get scared of me.:flower:

I've had the same hairdresser since my freshman year in high school...So we talk quite a bit every time I go in....Sometimes I go a little wild with my hair....So the bills usually extraordinary...But then usually so is my hair....I like to make peoples head turn....LOL... But overall I guess I like my salon experiances...cause they usually come with a hot stone massage and a facial...LOL:thumbsup:
 
My usual hairdresser is a family friend, thus sometimes he gives me a haircut for cheaper. I feel as if I have to go to him but its the same old thing everytime. Always asks me if I've got a girlfriend, and the answer is always no. Always asks if I'm "still into computers" and I feel like saying "I like dossing round on the internet, I do have a life outside of them" and other boring stuff but ah well.

Haven't been in many months, maybe 4ish, decided I wanted to grow my hair. Kind of length the guy on the left has:

Its close, but taking ages to grow the last 2 inches or so. Tis annoying.

Also everytime I wash my hair its kinda matted the next day, even though I use a smidgin of shampoo and rinse it best I can. Any advice?

When I was dyeing my hair, it was very similar to what you're describing. Do you know what colors they used?

What hair type are you? Are you using the correct shampoo for your type? Conditioner? Are you using any styling products? If so, are they getting washed out completely when you wash your hair? I'm scarin' myself here......seems I know way more than I should about hair care.

I hear ya...I don't go to the hairdresser that much, but I spend a small fortune on salon style shampoos and conditioners and styling products. I get complimented on my hair tho, so that makes me feel good. I guess it's all worth it in the end....to me, anyway!

Wow, massage and facial, too? I gotta go to a real salon one day!
 
Shampoo, some Dove one. Dunno what hair type I am, im a guy,w e dont know those things 😛 No conditioner, which I know I should use but hmm. And no, no styling products cause they're icky.
 
Well....first of all, you need to find out what kind of hair you have and use the proper type of shampoo AND conditioner for your hair type. Conditioner will help, believe me! I use Dove too, and I love that stuff. Second, once in a while, like every couple of weeks or so, wash your hair with a different shampoo than your normal brand....something that cleans deeply (like Suave....or Neutrogena.) Just once every couple of weeks should do it, since you don't use any styling products.
