Oh, giving the film a new name alters how it is made, I doubt it. So to say the original has a better bitrate than what the Americans bought it as, seems a bit odd.
As often happens a new distributor puts the copyright in their name, often under Artwork, it alters the credits to suit todays requirements ( the original credits might state the firm that did the puppetry modelling but the modern versions will list every person employed at that firm. I don't know if it has anything to do with the US claims but the running time for the original version is 91 minutes and the re-edited (cut) American version is 78 minutes.
Now have a look at a Quatermass and the Pit when in US it got the name, ' 5,000,000 Miles To Earth ' so the American's lost the 'cult ' following.
But the idiots tried to sell a DVD of the first series even though the last four episodes of the first series were not recorded.
