Scene 1. Outskirts of Summerville
Chris Cross was in his jeep driving in the outskirts of town. He lived in Summerville, Caifornia. And the name fit. It was hot most of the year, and in the unusual cases where it got lower than 65 was maybe three weeks at the end of January or the beginning of Febuary. But he was used to it, as most people in town were.
Chris drove out of the last neighborhood in city limits. He was officially out of town. He didn't know exactly where he was going, but he knew it was out of that town. He could see stars overhead, thousands upon thousands of them. There wasn't anything to prevent him from seeing them. He couldn't remember the last time he had seen this many stars.
He could see come major cuves in front of him. He had driven on these curves before while traveling to LA for the week-end, so they were nothing new to him. Well, except for the fact that the road was wet, due to some rain he couldn't remember experiencing, and that it was dark out.
Chris kept going down the road. He'd driven on wet roads at night before. Why should this be any different? He turned on the radio. Some talk show was on. AKA Crap, he thought. He reached in the back seat looking for a good CD to put in. He pushed around some cases not finding one that suited his taste at the moment.
Just my luck, Chris thought, turning back to put his eyes back on the road, just in time to realize he was already on a bend that he saw earlier, and was about to run off the road. He swerved quickly to keep on the road. He was fine.
Thank God!
He returned to his searched to find a suitable CD, but this time keeping his head turned to the front of the car, pulling down the visor to look at his CD holder. He had to have a good CD there. That's where most of his recent obsession CDs were. He found one. Fall Out Boy.
Only the best band to hit the radio since Relient K! He pulled it out, and put it into the player, waiting for it to load.
It didn't. He, of course, didn't realize this until five minutes later, when he glanced at the clock to check the time. The digital player read: UNKNOWN.
"What the hell?" Chris asked out loud. "How can it not be read? You played it yesterday, you damned machine!" He hit the eject button.
When the CD popped out, he grabbed it, and put it to his mouth, breathing on it, thinking maybe cleaning it would help. He rubbed it on his shirt. Then, his cell rang from the back seat.
What now? Christ though, shoving the CD back into the player, and reaching back, turning his head from the road yet again. His cell was under a couple of cases from when he shifted them around before. Even with the sound of the ringing cell, it took a couple seconds to find it.
I've got to clean this thing out. I mean, it feels like Syd's car. He picked up his cell, and answered it.
"Hello?" Chris said into the phone, turning his head back to the road.
"STOP THE CAR!" a voice yelled over the other end of the phone. It sounded familiar.
"Who's this?" Chris asked, looking at his rearview mirror. No cars were behind him.
"Just STOP THE CAR!" the voice repeated.
"Syd?" Chris asked. "Is that you? Look, nice trick, but I really have to be going now. Driving and all."
"I SAID STOP THE CAR!" the voiced yelled again. Then, Chris realized who the voice was. The voice was his. The person had to be him.
"What's going on?" Chris asked.
"Oh no, I'm too late," the voice said.
"Too late? What do you mea-?" The line went dead. He stared at the phone. Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, Chris saw someone in the middle of the road. He threw the phone into the passenger's seat, and slammed on breaks.
I'm too late, Chris thought to himself as the person hit the car, breaking his windshield. Chris swerved. The jeep went off the road.
Oh my God! I'm going to die. The jeep hit a tree. Upon impact, Chris blacked out.

Scene 2. Chris' Bedroom.
Chris woke up on the futon in his room.
"Chris, you up yet?" Chris' mom asked from the kitchen downstairs.
"Yeah mom," Chris call out.
"Good, you don't want to be late for school," his mo replied.
"No, wouldn't want that," Chris said to himself, getting out of the bed.
