Crossing Dimensions in the Buffyverse

LOL, yeah, here's Fray for ya... link

The holding dimension used by the Senior Partners was likely as simple to get through to as Pylea and it seemed to me like there was a permanent portal. You just needed to drive through it in the right Camaro. 🙂

thanks! :D
OK how about Jasmine then. Angel didn't have much of a problem crossing into the hell dimension Jasmine ruled. Why didn't Jasmine just come directly to earth from that dimension, if getting to earth was her priority?

I kept thinking about this for ages, but then I realised she was probably in the form of one of those spidery things, so her power to appeal to people wouldn't have worked, she had to go back up then install herself in Cordy, then use her and connor to give her a human form.

A meaty topic! N4H, I thank you! 😉

Okay, dimensions. At first glance it would seem that the term has been used very inconsistently throughout the run of Buffy and Angel and due to that it follows that the rules of crossing into them seem inconsistent too.

I tend to believe that it's as simple as assuming that every dimensional realm has different properties and different governing principles, including the details of passing through the dimensional walls of each realm. To get to Pylea all you need to do is recite the correct words and you get your dimensional door. Very straightforward and suggesting that Pylea is relatively "nearby" to earth, for want of a more accurate term, or that the walls between our reality and there are relatively thin, depending on how you see the relationship between dimensional realms.

Glory's home dimension, however, was clearly a lot less easy to access and to do so depended on a power much more potent than a few words spoken. In that case it was the Key. Other dimensions would no doubt be harder to access whilst yet others would be easier, regardless of the power of the being trying to pass through.

I agree with that, but in Triangle Willow says it's hard to pin down a dimension, cuz they keep moving around.

But I agree that there are certain requirements to get into certain ones, like the Big eye one, you had to be a demon to open it.

What about the ep Get it Done, when the portal opens to the source of the slayer power world through that kinda key device (Shadow puppets) but then willow seems to have no prob opening that portal back up, unless it wasn't that exact portal and just one they needed to do the swap, does she say? I haven't seen that one in a while?

i think they just needed to open a portal to that place, i don't remember anyone mentioning anthing about needing to open that portal

Even with Cordelia doing the mom thing though, she's still some kind of worm-face thing. She manages to shield her true presence from those who see her somehow.
