Crossovers might still happen?

A few months ago, the very public falling-out between Joss Whedon and the WB network suggested that the casts of Buffy and Angel might never meet onscreen again.

However, the slayer's creator now thinks that crossover episodes may return next season.

"It's not something we're pursuing this year," Joss told the New York Daily News, "but it's something we might get into next year if things have cooled down between the two networks," he said.

Even with the dispute, Whedon said it was important that each show stand alone anyway.

"I don't need to have any more crossovers," he said. "Next year we might look at seeing if we can do one."

Joss has also been very pleased with Buffy's new network home. "UPN really came out swinging. They really promised and delivered a great deal of support. They put passion in it. Our fan base is not huge, but it is hugely loyal. I knew they would follow us."

Wow, thats great! 🙂
I really hope they decide on doing it, I think we need one with everything new going on.

To be honest I'm not very bothered about crossovers anymore. I like how the shows have taken different directions. Unless it going to be a happy ending and buffy/angel live happily ever after then I'm not really going to be voting for crossovers.

I hope they do a crossover, Because I don't think Faith would be in Buffy anymore only Angel???

Wouldn't that be great!

I would love to see at least 2 crossovers!

i love the crossover episodes, i really hope they have some more, and ones where they actually meet with the others and talk to them would be even better 😀

love angela 🙂

I have to admit I have been keeping my fingers crossed that the finale of season 7 will have a humdinger of a crossover in it ('cos I think we will be saying goodbye to SMG after that), and it would be great to have a happy ending (though i'm not adverse to a really weepy ending either... I enjoy a good emotion tugger)

However, I agree the shows are stand alone shows, and so crossovers a unecesary, and keep them ensalved to each other. On the flip side of that coin though, the characters are all deeply intwined, and some of the previous crossovers have been totally natural... such as Willow going to see Angel, and I loved Oz going with the ring as a continuation of the story from Buffy ('cos you just had to get some more mileage out of the Ring, it was too cool a plot development to just forget about). And I think season 6 has missed crossovers a bit in Buffy (though strangely not in Angel), and we had to have an 'unseen' crossover, which I felt was a bit clumsy.

Sometimes they are totally justified, so it wiould be brilliant if at least there is the option for them later on, and I believe both networks would benefit from them (viewing figures alone), and to refuse point blank, when it could lead to a rating boosting story line, is pretty much cutting off their nose to spite their face.

Really...what would be the good of a crossover....Buffy and Angel are Different ppl now...leading different, seperate lives...they will never be together...plus i like the Buffy/Spike thing...Having Angel around would just screw with her head even more......😛

Moving off on tangents from sweetpea's post, I'd have to agree as it now looks *very* likely the show will penultimately finish at the end of Season 7. As for a crossover itself, i don't really mind if it isn't kept in the sense of the plot (or for that matter neccesary upon reason), i'd just love to see the character's interact as one whole group for one last time. 🙂

Maybe it could be like Season 4's Restless or even a 23rd episode (don't know how the boxsets would handle that, but i haven't really thought that far ahead anyway!) With Joss behind the helm though, i'm sure the episode's (split on both Angel and Buffy of course) with both the old and newer cast members would be quite an interesting prospect to pull off. Having them all in one room conversing over little quirks with all they're own distinct personalities... kinda brings that whole warm, fuzzy feeling doesn't it. ::mmm:: 😉

I juat hope that in some crossover, they make Buffy remember IWRY, cos if that happend, it would be the greatest crossover since IWRY🙂

I have 2 say that i luv crossovers! I think that altho they are individuals now, they are still soulmates and will always be a part of each other! Jus my opinion though. I think its so sweet when angel and buffy are 2gether - my fav is the body, where he comforts he after Joyce dies!

You Blaspheem against all that is good and holy....The show must go on until at least a 9th season... it just has to... life without Buffy is not worth living... *prepares the noose.. sure that plenty of people would be happy to make sure it worked fer him 😀*

As for crossovers... well we've saw a couple in season 4 and angel season 1 that were land marks in buffy history 'This Years Girl', 'Who Are You', 'Five By Five', 'Sanctuary' and 'I Will Remember you' ooo not forgetting 'In The Dark' Aswell... all the crossovers were superb, targetting on helping angel get up and running because the only strong crossover storyline was the Faith one... the appearances of Angel chars ... well Angel in Buffy seemed far too brief and strained.. where as the Faith Storyline had the viewers hooked... gave us somthing to talk about as did the whole 'I Will Remember You' but you know... he does say 'Sarah' almost breathlessly in that ep...

It's so frustrating to keep the Angel-Buffy thing going. They need to move on. I don't see a really good crossover if they intend to have Buffy and Angel move on from each other, it would just cause more frustration.

thats great, more crossovers, i really want people like Buffy to meet Gunn and Fred, and vice-versa, none of the angel cast have met Dawn, well Angel and Welsley must have but not that we have seen, that would be cool

They should definitely do B/A crossovers, cuz next year's Buffy's last season and then they won't have to talk about it anymore, unless they do another spin-off series...

Yes, that's when Gellar's contract ends. Unless, she wants to continue with the show, which I'm sure a lot of fans wouldn't mind??!
